It is not as wild as the Biketoberfest celebration in Main Street of Daytona Beach, but it busy enough to cause traffic in the area, particularly, near the Harley-Davidson dealership. Just like the other year, I was mortified to see an (older) woman wearing nothing but skimpy top and a T-back. When everything is sagging, it is not really a good sight to see. You know what I mean.

P.S. Sorry, I got no pictures to show. My husband was being a party-pooper and did not want to go out of the car to check out the celebration. Obviously, he is not a biker dude at all.

My husband and I have different tastes in movies. He likes his adrenaline-pumping and “creepy” sci-fis. For me, I am so much in love with romantic comedies and any sort of real-life movies. I can not still believe that, up to this day, he thinks Twilight sucks. According to him, it is a cheesy chick-flick. Well, I am glad that I am a chick.
Right now, he is watching Tinman from the sci-fi channel, while I am here blogging. It’s 1:11am, and I am still wide awake. Both of us sleep too late, like 2:00am, even if we have to work the next day. A cup of two of coffee keep me awake the whole day.
I am so ready to watch the Twilight sequel, New Moon. Anyway, guys. It is getting too late. See you around!

Volusia County. New Smyrna Beach.

I can not make up my mind if being on the top of the list as the world’s most dangerous place for shark attacks is a good or a bad thing. Good — in the sense that, it can drive thrill-seeking surfers, swimmers and extreme sports fanatics all over the world.   Bad — in the sense that, shark attacks is a morbid and scary scene, especially if you have seen the 1975 movie, Jaws.

I used to live in an island. I am an island girl, who does not know how to swim. I am fascinated by the beach sceneries, but never the blue water. I am more of a spectator, than a performer. In my mind, sharks could be anywhere and I coud be eaten and die. Perhaps, this is a result of uncensored movie-viewing in my childhood years. Jaws, that is. Should I thank my parents? Maybe yes, maybe no.

It is a long weekend, and I have nowhere to go. I want to go the beach. In the place that I live now, the beach is just about 2 miles away. But believe it or not, I have not dip in the sea water since I got here. I go to the beach, especially in Daytona Beach, to people-watch.

I hope someday and somehow, I can visit the New Smyrna Beach- not to swim, but to enjoy nature though my eyes. Heck, it’s just two towns away from us..about 30 minutes drive.

Many of you may have read or heard about this fruit from South America. For the past years, this fruit from the acai palm has been the center of studies and development, especially that it is said to contain the highest amount of antioxidant than any other fruit know to man. We all know that cancer is rampant in its many diverse forms and maybe the most common illness of the modern times. Many factors can be considered because of this. It can be the food we eat, or the products we use daily even as simple as the shampoo we use. Who knows?

It is about time that we take something that will combat this illness. Foods that contains antioxidant will help us flush all the toxins in our bodies. The acai products is the way to go. Based on studies, it has 15-20 times more antioxidant that the red grapes have. From its juice to its pulp, it is a very healthy product. Do not be surprised if so many health products are emerging in the market, using this fruit.

When I was still in the Philippines, I registered with Greenpeace Asia mailing list. One organization that I truly admire for their noble cause. I was curious on how the organization works and where they are headed each mission.

Sometime ago, I got this email linking to this Quit Coal, Save The Climate blog. The blog is informative and awakening, but there is always two sides of the story. Nowadays, coal-fired power plants are using the latest technology in eliminating, if not minimizing, the adverse effects of coal in our environment. They are willing to spend a lot of money to implement it, because after all, it is ALSO their planet, their home. This is a matter of strict compliance of environmental standards, and there is a governing body monitoring this. If a company does not comply, then boot them off the island. If there is one thing that should be eliminated – the corrupt government officials who see foreign investments as milking cows.

Just a piece of my mind.

I almost forgot. It’s Miss Universe 2009 live telecast tonight. I have been waiting for this since last month. However, I have two hurdles to overcome to enjoy the show. First, to convince my husband to give me the remote control of our TV. Second, to look for NBC Channel amongst the hundred of channels in Dish Network.

I just finished watching the preliminary competition in Hulu website. It looks like the Philippines representative, Bianca Manalo, is doing good. The crowd applauded louder than the most of the candidates (aside for Miss Bahamas, of course). Hmmm, will she be another Margie Moran or Gloria Diaz? Let us see. I am rooting for her .

UPDATE:

Miss Philippines did not make it to the top 15.  Miss Venezuela won the title! Second year in a row. There must be a lot of good-looking people in that country.
