Step 1/Arrived at the Embassy ground (fronting Bayview Park Hotel) at 6:00am

Fell in line at the right-side lane (facing the guard stand) for the immigrant visa applicants. Showed original appointment letter and 1 valid photo ID (passport will do if you have it) to the guard. Then proceeded to the long chairs (about 6 of it) situated inside the perimeter fence since they were not yet allowing applicants in the building. Take note that, other visa categories like tourist, student, etc. were lined up at the left-side lane and they have to stand throughout the waiting period (before they could come inside the building).

At 6:30am, guard started to let people in at the embassy building. Second guard checked our original appointment letter (no need for a copy) and one valid ID with picture. Then, let us in through Gate 2.

Step 2/ X-Ray Section at Gate 2

Bags, and other belongings were scanned. Body searched and other security checks were done. Cell phones and other electronic gadgets were sequestered and left at this section with 1 valid ID. Then follow the arrow of the blue IMMIGRANT VISA signage (including any K visas).

Step 3 /Ground Floor of the Embassy Building

Once inside, the guard will lead you to what area (group of blue chairs) you should seat. The 6:30am appointment were prioritized and were directly lined up to the Receiving Counter/Ticket Booth (right-side of the entrance door), where all accomplished DS forms were submitted.

After the 6:30am applicants were done. Guard called all senior citizen, handicapped applicants and applicants with children. Yes, a priority was given to the above-mentioned group regardless of interview time stated in the letter. This is the main reason why I and my daughter finished our interview at 9:00am.*Wink*

Step 4/ Submission of DS forms at the Receiving Counter/Ticket Booth

Fell in line.

Submitted the original appointment letter and the 2 sets of DS-156 and DS-157 per applicant (K-3, so no DS-156K needed) to the staff.

POINTERS: (1) Do not forget to sign and put the date on your DS-156 forms. In case of children, the parent can sign on her/his behalf but do not forget to write your relationship just below the signature and the child’s printed name above the signature. (2) In DS-157 Question #10, do not forget to write “Philippines” especially if you have not been to any country. (3) Do not forget to paste/glue your visa pictures in your DS-156 forms. (4) In DS-156 Item #37, do not leave anything blank. You have to check “NO”, in case if the item does not apply to you. (5) Include the bar code page (page 3) of the online DS-156 version in your submittal.

Staff asked where our passports are, I replied that it’s with SLEC.

After checking, the staff give us the much needed priority number sheet (NEVER lose this throughout the process). Take note, you will only receive one priority number per appointment letter, so the derivative applicants are already included in the main applicant’s number. After that, the documents submitted remained with her. These will be forwarded to the finger scanning section. Told us to be seated and wait for our names to be called for finger scanning.

Step 5/ Finger Scanning

At this stage, the priority number was not used. Our names were called in the PA system. Then proceeded to Window 33 for finger scanning. There were many windows (17,18, 33, 34) which are assigned to do this. Just listen very well. Names were called twice.

Fell in line at Window 33.

Showed our priority number.

Verified my name.

All my fingers were scanned and snap a photo of my face. Amber’s (5 y.o) fingers were not scanned, but they only took her photo.

Then told us to seat and wait for our priority number to be flashed on the screen.

Step 6/ Pre-interview

After about 10 mins. of waiting our number was flashed on the queuing electronic board. We went to Window 19 for our pre-interview and showed our priority number.

The Fil pre-interviewer was really nice. He verified our names.

He went through our papers and let me correct whatever I had to correct (as stated in POINTERS of Schedule 4).

After that, he asked our BCs NBI, MC, I-134 and some its attachments, and some proofs for genuine relationship. I, in turn, handed him over everything I prepared. He gladly accepted it. So basically, all documents that I prepared were put into use.

Questions asked:

Who is you petitioner?

When is his birth date?

How old are you?

Where did you meet him?

When was that?

How many times did he visit you?

When did he arrive here in the country?

When did he leave?

Then said, “Okay, that’s it. You may now take your seat and wait for your number to be flashed on the screen for your consular interview.”

Step 7/ Consular Interview

At 8:30am, number flashed on screen and assigned to Window 32.

We seated on the chair beside the doorway to the Consul Office while waiting for the other applicant’s interview to be finished.

As soon as the other applicant was done, we stood up and went inside the room (with no door). The CO is a pretty American lady (she reminded me of Princess Dianna)

Our conversation goes like this:

Me: Good morning, Madam. (smiled and showed her our number in through glass panel)

CO: Hello, please be seated. (smiled and was busy tinkering her PC, looking at our papers)

Who is your petitioner? and his date of birth?

Me: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

CO: What is your relation to him?

Me: Spouse

CO: What?

Me: I am his wife.

CO: Okay. Where did you meet him?

Me: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

CO: When was that?

Me: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

CO: How many times did he visit you?

Me: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

CO: What date did he arrive? And when he left the country?

Me: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (stated the exact dates on my husband arrival/departure stamp in his passport)

CO: Does he have kids?

Me: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

CO: What is he doing for a living?

Me: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

CO: Okay. Tell me about the father of your child (this one stunned me because I did not expect such question especially that I have not seen the concerned person for more than five years)

Me: You mean her biological father?

CO: Yes

Me: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

CO: Why you were not married to him? (again, I dunno how to answer it. I was basically lost for words)

Me. Yes, we were not. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

CO: Okay, that’s everything. Please be seated outside and wait for your number to be flashed on the screen.Thank you.

Me: Thank you.

Shesh! I was too shy and scared to ask if we were approved or not.

After the interview, she was busy sorting our papers, flipping one page to another. At first, I noticed the stamped letters “…PPROVED”, but not to sure about it since, it could be “DISAPPROVED”. When she sorted again the papers, I glued my eyes on it and I saw a black ink stamp “APPROVED” in one of the forms (I dunno exactly on what form).

Done 15 mins later. Actually, most of the time, she spent it flipping our papers. Not much on talking. She was not even really staring/looking at me, when I talked.

Went outside and seated again.

Step 8/ Releasing Counter (Windows 37)

Our number was flashed on the screen, indicating Window 37.

Showed our priority number.

Verified my name.

The embassy staff handed over the proofs of relationship.

Then gave us the appointment letter attached with the ever-famous PINK SLIP for Delbros payment. Yeah, only two sheets.

She just said, “After paying Delbros, you could go home already”.

Step 9/ Paid Delbros

No line at all. Not busy at all.

Showed the pink slip and appointment letter to Delbros counter

They gave us 2 blank forms (1 for me and 1 for Amber), concerning the delivery address of the visa including contact numbers and name of authorized representative, if there is any

Filled out forms, then gave to Delbros counter again

The staff encoded our data to their system, and generated an official receipt along with the future air waybill (Actually, it is just our Manila case number with “01”, “02”, “03, “04”..so on and so forth…depending on the number of applicants per case number).

We paid 165pesos x 2 (for me and Amber). I live in a key city so it’s only 165pesos. So, if you are four, you will pay 4 x 165pesos.

Payment Done.

We went to the hotel with the ff. documents in our hands: original appointment letter (with a green ink APPROVED stamped, # of applicants), Delbros Official Receipt and blank form of letter of authority, in case that you will be not at home when the visa delivery happens).

Hurray! Done with the interview!

IMPORTANT NOTES:

(1) It is advisable for applicants to be there at the Embassy ground (at Gate 2/ fronting Bayview Park Hotel) AN HOUR before the schedule appointment time.

(2) Bring all original/certified copy of documents required. However, for 1040 (ITR), a copy will suffice.

(3) If you want to have a computerized DS-157 (using Photoshop or any other software), you may. Just attached the bank validated DS-157 form to your computerized form. Just photocopy it (back-to-back) for your 2nd copy. Removed the bank receipt. They will not need it.

(4) In case, you do not have any valid photo ID (or you forget to bring one) for entry purposes, your NBI Clearance will do.

(5) Even if you submitted a CENOMAR or CRS Form No. 5-Advisory on Marriages, the Embassy will check your status with NSO themselves.

Lastly, enjoy your day and relax!

  1. found your blog through a link left on my site regarding malu fernandez. so glad i wandered in! i am right now in the middle of petitioning my daughter! her interview is next week! thank you soooooo much for sharing your experience here on your blog.

my daughter and i have been co-blogging our experience about this process on my blogspot. :-)

i’ll have her read this for inspiration. she’s 17.

  2. Hi, u mind if i’ll get your link and post it on my blog? i’m sure lots of people i knew who is reading my blog is gonna thank you for this experiences, even me… although we are still in the process of waiting for the documents from the US embassy in Vermont, its more advantage to know some of those things inside the embassy department… thankies a lot…

  3. Thank you, ladies. Sure, you can add my link in your site. It would be an honor on my part.

  4. Thanks sooo much for posting your experience. We are still waiting for approval here in US. They received our packet on June 8, 2007. The Visa timelines I’m reading online for the California Service Center states current time of 135 days for approval. Not sure on the accuracy of that information…but it feels like it is taking forever. Thanks for the heads up about gathering medical/immunization records during the NOA1 phase. I emailed my fiancee the information you stated.

Your step by step experience thru the process will help thousands if more people were able to read it online. Seriously….thanks for sharing this insightful information. Pray for us that it gets approved soon!!!

  5. Thanks a lot for this info! This would really help me with my visa struggle :) Well, I just wanted to ask, my husband filed for K3 visa, he mailed form I130 to california service center, received NOA1 then mailed form 129f to Missouri service center, then I found out that it should be mailed to california service center where the form I130 is pending. Do you think Missouri service center forwards form I129 to california service center or will they return it to my husband? I’m worried…

  6. Thanks for posting your experience, at least i can prepare now for their possible questions. I just would like to know more about your interview since we have the same situation. do i have to explain what happened between me and the father of my child? Please help Thanks!!!

  7. Thanks for posting this, I never knew what the procedure was like, and your post made me feel like I was right there, alongside you during the process.

  8. Thanks for posting and now i have an Idea what I am looking at. I am so Nervous about this.

What pwede kong gawin?? :( please reply! I dont have any idea on what to do with it..

  10. Actually, I have the feeling they did even if I submitted my CENOMAR, maybe because I have a kid from a previous relationship. They want to make sure that my marriage to my American husband is for real.

BTW, who was your previous husband? Is this the same guy who will petition you? If it is, no problem. The problem lies when they are two different individuals. You are given the burden of proof.

  11. hi there, thanks for posting your experience… i know itll be a big help…

  12. and if God permits, i will live in FL too, my fiance’s from Orlando… thanks for posting… ii hope you can email me, lots of questions to ask.. heheheh

  13. Hi, Joy.Thanks for dropping by. Just drop me a line here if you want to ask something.Take care!

  14. I think this article is out dated… Its a whole diffrent process now… just for info guys

  15. How many working days after the interview before you recieved your VISA from DELBROS?

    thanks
    Teddy

  16. It was 7 days from interview.

  17. hi, i’m glad i found your site because this is exactly what my daughter was asking me for her interview appointment, how the process is going to be. but i want to ask you,, her appointment is scheduled for Sept, does she have to get her medical exam done first before going for the appoinment?this confuses me,,,thanks

  18. Hello, roz.

Usually, the medical exam is scheduled a week before the embassy interview. But I suggest that she should have it 2-4 weeks ahead than the interview date. As long as she has the Appointment letter or NOA2, she should be fine. If she will have her menstruation, she will be advised to come back later when she does not have it.

In our case, I and my daughter had our med exam two weeks before the interview.

  19. thanks! you know what, you sure made my day when i read your whole immigration experience. i am sending a link right now to my daughter so she can read up on it and help her prepare for the process,,,

  20. Hi,
thanks a lot for the review of your interview day at the embassy. My fiance and i are working for a K1 visa (Fiancee visa). So it’s a little bit different with your case.We are told that we’ll receive the interview schedule within 2 to 4 weeks later. i’m glad to find a relieving story at the embassy. Hopefully, mine will be as lucky as yours’.

    Thanks
    Nanda

  21. Hello Nanda,

Actually, K1 and K3 are somewhat the same in the process. Both are nonimmigrant , but are treated as immigrant in essence in the process since AOS is done in the US.

    Good luck!

  22. hi,

actually i dont have my interview yet but i was hoping if you can give me some advice about my case. My husband (petitioner) just got a word from INS and he was advice to wait 30days for the approval or denial of our case. do you have any idea how long it will really take before he gets a notice again from the INS. thank you in advance!!!

    mae…

  23. Hi Mae,

Here’s the site that will help you estimate your case adjudication. It usually depends on the service center…

    http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/stats.php?cfl=

    Hope that helps…

  24. Hi,

Good day to all, thanks a lot for the review of your interview day at the embassy, btw Step mom ko po ang nag petition samin ng kapatid ko, ahm..ngayon po may dumating na mail from NVC, at ito ay tungkol sa IV Application Processing Fee Bill, at naipadala ko na ang hinihingi nila, my question is, sa may experience na po, anu na po ang susunod na mail ng NVC samin? after namin mag bayad about dun sa IV Application Processing Fee Bill.

    tnx in advance.

  25. thanks… God bless!!!

  26. hi there! i would like to ask if youre visa is an immigrant or non immigrant visa. i already received a letter from the embassy regarding my interview and it is scheduled on sept 26. well my issue is about the visa. i have a friend who was already interviewed and is under the immigrant visa as she was petitioned by her father as well. but up to this date they havent received their visas yet. so just wondering if it will also took me yrs to wait for my visa to be delivered to me after im done with the interview. hope to have a reply from you. thanks…

  27. We filed under K-3 non-immigrant spousal visa. However, it is processed as an immigrant visa in US Embassy since, basically, it is. The only thing is –I have to adjust status when I arrive in the US. As for immigrant visas (CR, IR, etc.), the process will take longer. I got my visa exactly one week from my interview. But right now, the embassy is very strict and all visa applications have to undergo document verification, which will take a while. Some receive their visa as long as month from date of interview.

    Good luck.

  28. Hi, Tingting!

Your blog on your interview experience at the US Embassy is really very helpful to us right now. We just got a schedule from NVC and I really don’t know what to expect. I’m so glad you gave us a short briefing on this ^^ May I ask though, if there is a need to leave the passport with them right after the interview? The thing is, my fiance and I are supposed to leave on our honeymoon trip on the day of the interview. So, we had to move the trip to next day. I’m wondering now if you left your passport with the embassy because if that’s the case, we won’t be able to push through with our trip abroad and we have to do a plan B. Thanks, hope you could help :)

  29. i just want to know, how long will it take to release my visa after being interviewed? I already submitted additional documents and necessary payments at delbros as per instructions but to date i havent received my visa yet. Its almost 3 and half months since my interview. Im afraid that my visa been denied but I dont see anything that will affect visa. Does it really take that long before I get the visa?? They say the embassy will take necessary instruction if problem occur, but when,, huhuhu, please help me..

  30. Dear Pau,
    Thanks for visiting my blog.
After the interview, the embassy will not give you passport back to you, unless if you are outright denied, which is very unusual for K-1, K-3 and other immigrant visas. They have to print the VISA in it. You will receive your passport with your visa from Delbros — 3 to 5 days from its printing. If you are under Administrative Review (white slip), it will take longer. After the interview, do not forget to ask the consul if you are approve or not –is she/he yes, then ask if you can get your personally get your visa.

  31. Dear Cynth,
Did you receive a white slip after the interview? If yes, your case is under Administrative Review. You have no choice but to wait.

For the time being, ask you husband or fiance to call the embassy himself. They will surely accommodate his queries.

  32. Hi, Tingting! Thanks for your reply. Your inputs help :D

  33. Hi TingTing…

Thank you for the detailed experience you went through during your K-3 interview. My wife just recently went through hers a few weeks ago (Oct 3 w/Pink Slip) and right now we are just waiting for her visa/passport to arrive.

Reading through some of the questions and comments left by your readers, I came across one of your responses to a reader saying that it only took a week for your K-3 visa to arrive back in 2006. But in another response, you noted that at present time, it can take up to a month or more for approvals because of document verifications.

So my question is this… do you think that the approval process will take longer than a month considering that the holidays are now approaching. I have plans to travel home to the Philippines this coming December with the hopes of bringing my wife home so we can spend our first Christmas together. I know its only been a couple of weeks but I’m getting concerned now.

I Thank you in advance for your insight… Paul

  34. Hello Paul,

I had my interview in 2007. That time, the document verification part of the process is not yet a requirement. It is only when the consul doubts the originality of your papers, especially for NSO related documents. It is just this year that the embassy requires document verification. This procees is dependent with the NSO. Since, NSO is a government office, most likely, it observes national holidays. Then, it will eventually affects your timeline.

As for me and my daughter, we had our interview on a Friday, and the next Monday our visas were already printed.

That’s true. Nowadays, issuance of visa take sometimes a month or two even if you get the pink slip.

  35. Paul,

In addition, I suggest that you inquire about the status of your document verification using this guideline http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=6151. Did your wife pay the doc verification fee in advance? Because is she paid it on the interview date, then a delay of the issuance is expected, as stated in the embassy’s website.

But the best thing to do is — for you , the USC, to call the embassy directly to inquire about the status of wife’s case…011-632-301-2000 ext 5184 or (632) 301-2591.

  36. Hi TingTing…

Thanks for your reply. I really appreciate all your help.

    Paul

  37. hi… we had our interview last oct. 6 but we failed to have our medical examination beforehand due to appointment schedule confusion since we were informed that we will have our med. exam on that same day with our us embassy interview but of different time, that is 12am….confusing right, st.lukes is definitely closed at that time. so we were required to undergo such for compliance during our interview with the consul but was given remark to submit the needed document in windows 17-20 mon-thu 1-2pm schedule for submission. we underwent our medical right after the interview, that is after lunch time. we were able to complete all the needed laboratory work-ups and physical examination that day and was advised to be back on the next day for the result. Finally, last oct. 7, we had our med. exam. results but SLEC wont allow us to hand carry the result since it’s their policy to transmit all of it to the embassy for safe-keeping. we were somewhat confused about it since we were advised to submit that document in the us embassy windows or thru mail. but, we cant do something about it since they will not hand it over to us for submission, except for the assurance that they will transmit it by thursday, oct.9, instead, they’ve got our passports and visa photos for transmittal to the us embassy.
now, we are still waiting for any feedback from the embassy regarding the issuance of our visa. i am under e3 category for immigrant visa. does it really take time for us to wait for it…. we have texted, emailed and went to delbros online websites to check about our status, but still our papers is on process at the us embassy.
    thanx

  38. Kareen,

SLEC is right. They are the one that will forward the results to the embassy. It is never hand carried by the applicant to the embassy. Usually, it will take them a week from the last day of med exam date to do that. I suggest that you let your USC petition call the embassy at 011-632-301-2000 ext 5184 or dial 0 to inquire about the status of your case.

    Good luck!

  39. In addition, when I got my appointment letter the date of the medical exam and the interview date were the same too, and the time stated was 12:00AM. BUt prior to that, I already made some immigration research. So basically, I know that I do not have to follow the medical exam date stated in the letter. I, along with my daughter, went to SLEC three weeks before our interview date.

  40. Hi again, Tingting!

May I bother you again with some questions now that I got my schedule for the medical exam and interview? I just want to know long does the medical exam take. Will it take hours only or the whole day? If I go there a week before the interview, will that be ok? Will it make a difference if i have my medical exam earlier? I’m just having difficulty filing my leave from the office so if I can have my exam at 6am to 9am, I don’t have to file my leave anymore :) If you think that’s not possible, then I’ll have to talk to my boss :D

  41. hi tingting! love reading your blogs …finding other people in our situation. My husband immigrated here from Brasil in Oct 2006. we are waiting for his AOS currently.

we waited 10 months for his K3 spousal approval, so i completely sympathize for those of you waiting.

PAU, do your medical SOON. my husband had a negative reaction to one of the tests that delayed him several days. i would not recommend doing interview and exam on the same day. his exam was over within an hour – but he had to go back 24-48 hours after the appt to have his skin test read.

also, do not open the medical results. they must remain in a sealed envelope.

tingting, call on me if you need help with the AOS process. i’m becoming a pro at this costly process!

    take care,
    Hallie

  42. Dear Pau,

It will most likely takes the whole two days. But on the second day (vaccination and result–if you have no added testings), most probably 3/4 of the day. I suggest that you go middle of the week. Monday is always full. I suggest you go on a Tuesday afternoon. It’s usually in the morning that the clinic is so full. 6am to 9am is not enough. You will expect a lot of waiting — I am talking about 3-3 hours of waiting for 1 step alone. And there are a lot of steps to finish it. File a leave with work. Come on, you will be leaving in the US soon. What is there to lose?

  43. Hello Hallie,

You are right. I suggest that Paula must take her medical exam 2 weeks before the interview date. If she has “bad” results in her testings, at least, she has time to rectify it especially when the clinic needs more testings. This will means more than 2 days of medical exam. Ex. if you have a suspicious x-ray result, they will ask you to undergo sputum which will take 3 more days.

I will send you a message when I do my AOS. Hopefully, early next yer.

Thanks for dropping by my site!

  44. Hi, Tingting and Hallie!

It really helps to be able to discuss these things with you guys who are really knowledgeable about the process from the applicant’s point of view. Somehow, it eases the tension. I’ll try to get my 2-day leave and will definitely NOT open the envelope when it’s given to me. Hopefully, things will go smoothly from hereon :) Good luck with your AOS, guys! ^^

  45. Pau,

SLEC will not give you any envelope. You go home with only your vaccination record in hand.

    Take care.

  46. Hi, again, Tingting!

Just another question. Is it necessary that the 2 days for the medical be consecutive? ^^

  47. Actually I have not yet heard of anyone doing it with 2 or more days gap. You see- there is an overflow of files in SLEC, if you will do your medical not consecutively, there is a big chance that your records maybe misplaced. But to be sure, you can call SLEC about this at (632) 521 – 0020 , 521 – 8647, 524 – 6083.

  48. Thanks very helpful!

  49. Okies! Definitely very helpful! ^0^

  50. Good day Tingting Rimart.. Thank you very much for
the information.. It really helped a lot.. But i have a question if you don’t mind, after you received the ever-famous PINK SLIP and received the DELBROS OFFICIAL RECEIPT (after paying of course), approximtely how many days/weeks for you to recieve the visa from delbros??
I received my delbros official receipt on Oct 23. The week has passed but i still didn’t received anything. =c I’m really sorry that i asked you this, it’s just that i really dont know where to ask this question and i believe that asking you might be a good idea to have a little (or lot, i dont mind^^) information regarding the subject matter.
Thank you very much. I’m really hoping for your reply (crossed fingers^^)

  51. Hello stepstep,
Getting the pink slip does not automatically mean that the embassy will print your visa on the same or the next day of your interview. When printed, it will usually take 2-3 days from printing date to its delivery to your doorstep.

In the meantime, ask your USC petitioner to call the embassy Call Center for the exact status of your case. It could be that, the embassy is verifying some documents with the NSO. If this is the case, it will take two weeks to a month before you can get your visa.

  52. In addition, a pink slip means — you are on your way to the US if there is no problem with the document verification.

  53. Thank you very much.. Reading your reply makes
me feel better, (i’m actually experiencing an anxiety about the whole thing^^). Hehe..
I really hope that it’ll arrive soon.
Again thank you very much. I really appreciate it.
    Godbless.

  54. please msg me if there are people who can help me. im applaying for tourist visa in u.s. and my interview is on november 14 2008… 09275232053 is my number.. tnx

  55. Hello,

I am afraid, I can not send you a SMS. I am here in the USA, and I have very little knowledge about tourist visa.

    Thanks for dropping by.

  56. still waiting… waaa antagal tlaga.

  57. hi my name is sarvi , i pettion my parents in the phils. & two weeks ago the us emabssy in window 17 took thy’e passport & also my IRS generated transcript. they say that everything is complete & just to go home & wait in the mail. my question is are they approve since they’re passport was taken & they ‘ve paid delbros also. and the lady from window 17 said that they will give the passport to the consul they put all the docs. which is the passport & other docs in an envelope & seal it . they just told my parent to go home & wait in the mail. do you know how many weeks or days they will get thyre visa

  58. Dear Sarvi,

That’s a good news. As long as the documents submitted have no problem, the visa will soon be printed. From printing date, it only takes 3-5 days. However, if the embassy verified the docs submitted, it will take about a month.

  59. OK THANKS FOR THE INFO WE’LL JUST WAIT FOR NOW THE.

  60. Hi, Tingting! It’s me again, Pau. I’ve finally had my interview! Yahoo! We were given a pink slip but we need to submit the marriage index coz I was not able to provide a copy of the CENOMAR during the interview. Anyway, 2 days after, I have received a text message from Delbros. Message is: “Good day! Per directive by the US Embassy, we will refund the deposit you made for Document Verification. Thank you. – Delbros, Inc.”

Would you know if this refunding the deposit for Document Verification a normal procedure? :)

  64. Dear Sandy,

Hello. Do not be so nervous during your interview. Just be confident. Yes, I also agree that you are too young to be married, but as long as all proof of relationship is in place, you do not have to worry. By the way, how many times did he visit you in Pinas before the interview?

  65. hi,just i’ve been reading all you topics here and comments,it helps poeple a lot,and esp.me,hMM..just want to ask if DEcember 1 is a holiday?i’m waiting for your reply thanks to all!!!

  68. Hey guys,

I’ve been reading this blogs for couple of weeks now.
Well l just had my interview today at US embassy and the consul who interviewed me was really not that nice unlike what l have been reading on different sites.

Anyway, after the interview the consul told me “ok thats about it, pls wait for your number to be called again”
and then l was called at window 37 Releasing. And the girl there gave me a pink slip and gave back my appointment letter and told to me to pay for delivery fee. I asked her if l was approved she said they’re not allowed to say it. But l noticed a pink Stamp on top of my docs.
    that says APPROVED
though l was a little relieve after seeing it. I got confused because based from all the blogs that l’ve read those who got approved, they got a green white stripe sticker that says APPROVED. So my question is.. and this is really bothering me and making my head spin. Why did l get a pink stamp? although its approved? Is there anybody an idea about this??
sister’s l would really appreciate any info.

    God bless!!!
    thanks

  69. Alice,

I believe that your case is approved. They just have to go through your document verification, so that’s why they did not bluntly say it. Basically, you are only approved when all documents are good.

  70. Tingting Rimart

Oh nga cgru sis, since l saw the stamp APPROVED on it naman. Im just curious lang kasi cause l was expecting a green sticketer or something.
Thanks sis for the reply.. hopefully l could fly to CA before christmas… I’m not sure how many days before l can receive our visas.

    Happy Holiday everyone!!!

  71. hello tingting,i just want to ask for an advise. i’m a nurse,i have a pending immigrant petition.if i will apply for a tourist visa,do you think the consul will give me one?
what do u think are the possible questions he will ask me?and how will i convince him/her that i have no intentions of working in the US but rather just want to visit my friends and relatives?
    pls help me.thanks.

  72. hello ting,

  73. hi ting,

merry christmas…. just read ur blog today.. thanks for the infor.. i just wanna ask kasi its bothering me a lot. i have a problem with middle name. Sa approval petition ng k3 visa ko at sa pass port ko ay mag iba. Ang tanung ko it can affect ba my application? nagaalala kasi ako my interview is next month na.

can u help me or give me some idea about it..thanks

  74. Hello maidave,

    Happy holiday!

    About your problem—
Since you have one month left for your interview, I suggest that you should bring documents which show that the person in the K3 petition and the passport is one and the same. You can bring school records or photo IDs which state your whole name. However, if your name in the marriage certificate and the K3 petition is the same, this is already a very strong proof that both names are referring to only one person.

By the way, I have a question. I assume that your husband use your second name, and not your mother’s maiden surname, as your middle name in your petition, am I right?

  75. hi ting,

    thanks for the reply…

No! diba in the philippines law once the woman get married automatically ang apelyido natin sa pagkadalaga un ang middle name natin pagnagasawa tau.. In my case, ang middle name ko sa pagkadalaga ay yun parin ang middle name ko na ginamit ng husband ko sa petition. kaya may conflict sa petition ko sa k-3 at sa pasport ko.
ex. mai brazil corales when i was single, tapos when i get married dapat mai corales constantin, sa approval ng 129-f ko ang name ko doon. mai brazil constantin.

kaya worried ako about dito… although i prepare all my secondary evidence like you mention to proof its the same person.

so, do i need to request sa embassy to change my middle name before my interview?

another question ting, diba sa k-3 visa both I-130 and 129f will be submitted sa USCIS. ok lang ba yun kung sa I-130 ang surname mo sa pagkadalaga ang gamitin instead ang apelyido ng husband mo? at doon naman sa DS-157 Q#10 its that ok kung NONE ang ilagay instead of phil? kahit di pa sya nainsyuhan passport except sa pinas?

hope i can get your response with this. thanks

  76. hi ting,

hope to hear from your response about my query.

    thanks

  77. Hi Mai,

Don’t not worry about any document/form in your maiden name for your K-3 petition. When I filed my I-130, I used my married name, but when I got my approval notice, USCIS stated my maiden name there.

  78. Hi Mai,

Here is a reply I got from the immigration expert RBacon about your query.

    ————————————-
    IT doesn’t really matter, but…

Her plane tickets must be in her passport name.

Her Green Card will probably be in her K3 petition name (but could be in passport name).

    –Ray B

  79. hello ting,

thanks for the information you have given me. atleast now medyo narelieve ako wen i read your message.

advance happy new year sau at sa family..

    mai

  80. hi ting,

I have another question ting, is the discrepancy of my middle name in the petition and in my passport can affect me sa pagalis ko?

at saka need pa ba to bring cenomar sa interview even im already married to my husband?

    mai

  81. Hello Tingting,
Good day!i had fun reading all the different experiences, situations for most people thats been waiting for their visa approval or the visa interview.
I went through the same thing.First with the medical which i thought would last for 1 day but i end up being asked to returned on monday. It was such a hassle since i came from Baguio.
I have some questions for you ting, coz just like anybody else i am worried and confused since my interview is fast approaching Jan.20,2009( Obama’s Inaguation…hope it makes a difference).
    Questions:
    1. when my fiancee filled out the biographic information on his end there was a questioned there that asked if “used aliases” and he put none. Well, other than his name Ahmed he is also known as matt. And some of his government documents like W2 was named matt and some documents like from his SSN is named Ahmed. I asked him to have a letter notarized explaining this issue.Do you think the consul will make such a big deal with this?
2.After my medical exam the SLEC just gave me a copy of the vaccination result but they got my passport along with my medical result the problem is now that i am about to fill out the Forms DS 156, DS 156k, DS157 it asked about my passport number and the place and date it was issued and the expiry date,i dont have those because i wasnt able to copy those information before i gave them my passport. Would it be ok to fill out the forms now so it wouldnt be too hassle when i get to the embassy and just fill out the portion where it asked about my passport number and the expiry date later when i am infron t of the person thats going to conduct my preliminary interview?
3.Until now i am still waiting for my sons birth certificate to be submitted to the NSO office because we had it late register,do you think baptismal certificate will do?
    4. i met my fiance on christian cafe 2003 and he visited me once last March of 2008 and stayed only for 11 days, would it matter to them?
    5. my fiance carried a muslim name since he was born in Egypt but raised in America since he was 2 years old, would it matter to them, do you think they wont take that into consideration having a muslim sounding name as a petitioner?

I know i have a lot of concern and maybe my question wouldnt even be the things that will basically their point of reference but i am just really nervous and worried.
Please provide me some inputs and advice what to do?

    Lily

  82. hello

  84. hello, ting,

    grace

  85. hope, to have your response soon

    Grace

  86. Dear Mai,

That is why it is very important that the name in your plane ticket is the same as with your passport name. In the airport, they only take the passport as identification. The K-3 documents are not ever used. So don’t worry, you are good to go.

  87. Dear Lily,

Hi! I will answer your questions also by number.
    1. I suggest to have a notarized letter about this case. This is a major issue, especially when some of his government files are in his American name. Anyway, what is the name in his passport? That is usually the name that is use. I also have this case. My husband has an Italian name (birth certificate) and American name (all his public files). We end up using the name is his passport which is the Italian name. With this immigration processes, it usually the passport name prevails.

    2. Ask your petitioner if he has a copy or even just the number and related dates. Step 4 is when you submit your DS forms to the counter. They will initially check the completeness of your forms. This will mean major delay on your part. Also, they will think that you come to your interview unprepared.

    3. That means, he has no passport yet? Did you do electronic endorsement to hasten the process? If you do not have your son’s BC on your interview, there is a VERY BIG chance that you will be subjected to Administrative Process.

    4. It does not matter. I knew somebody whose fiance visited her for just a week, just to complete the physically meet part of the petition, and they got approved.

    5. I don’t think so. There are a lot of Muslim-raced petitioners, but they got approved. I am confident that the embassy are not racist.

    Hope this helps.

  88. Dear Grace,

For the seminar, I do not think that they will let your husband join you inside the room. However, he can wait outside.

As for the embassy interview, he is VERY allowed to come inside the embassy and be with you during the interview process. This is even a good thing.

Please note that you have to completely fill out the DS forms even before you will come to the embassy. Do not forget to pay the visa pay ahead of time too. If you have questions, you can drop a comment her. I will be checking my website every now and then, during the day (FL time).

  89. hello ting

    Thanks, for, your advice .

    Grace

  90. hello ting

how can i pay visa payment ahead??? im waiting to my appointment letter from, embassy so far , so, i want, to be accomplish on what i need, to do, or to be done ,,thanks, ting,,

    Grace

  91. hello…i just got my mnl number, mga ilang araw kaya bago dumating yong papers from embassy? im afraid din, sana nice yong mag interview sa akin kc ang fiance ko ay buddist at sri lankan pero US citizen naman po siya…mga how much kaya ang babayaran ko including medical and interview ko? Its New Year…sana maging successful ang interview at medical ko…

  92. Dear Grace,

Read this STEPS. It will give you the process.

    http://rimart.net/timeline/

  93. Dear Bing,

Do not worry about your fiance’s race. US is a very diverse country. A lot of applicants are of different religion and race.

  94. hay thank you Ting, ask ko din pala, nababasa ko kc sa ilan dito na alam nila ang sched ng interview at medical nila kahit wala pang papers from embassy…sang site ko ba dapat makita ang sched ko kc baka biglang bukas na pala ay di ko alam kc sometimes delayed yong papers from embassy…curious lang :) Happy New Year:)

  95. hi ting,

    happy new year….

I have another question to be ask… what if kung ang I-130 and 129-f has been approved in the same date?
anu ba ang dapat gawin? at saka aside from the delbros anu pa ba pa ang binabayaran sa embassy after interview?

    looking forward with ur reply.

thanks for the tips and advice.

    maidave

  96. Dear Mai,

In case that your I-130 and I-129F are approved at the same time, you have the option to go all the way to CR-1 visa application. You have to submit a form to USCIS to effect this. But if you still want to pursue K-3, do nothing. You case will be automatically forwarder to NVC, then to the embassy for interview.

As for the payment inside the embassy, it’s only the Delbros fee. All other fees must be paid before your Interview date, like document verification and visa application fee.

  97. Dear Bing,

Your American petitioner call NVC at 603- 334-0700 (then 1, 5) to get your MNL case # using your UCSIS case #. When you have this MNL number, you can check your interview and medical appoinmment in this link.
    http://203.177.135.10/ivappointment/login.asp

    Good luck!

  98. hi ting,
    good day!
    thanks again for the information.

what is that 400 dollar that i read in the visa fees na kelangan bayaran sa embassy? who is the one will submit a form to USCIS me or my husband? kasi only my k-3 lang ang kanilang finorward sa embassy. anu ang next step na dapat gawin for my I-130 approval ok lang ba yun na k-3 lang muna saka na ang I-130?

if ever i choose CR-1 anung requirement and how long will it takes?

    mai

  99. hi ting,

    good day!
    thanks for the information.

what is that 400 dollar that i read in the visa fees yan ba ay binayaran sa embassy? who is the one will submit a form to USCIS my husband or me? kasi ang husband ko naman ang nagapply sa labas.

Is ok that if CR1 and k-3 ay sabayin pagapply? Pero i did not recieve any letter from NVC regarding sa I-130.
Or ok lang bang magapply for CR1 or I-130 after u arrived in the US.

Looking forward with ur reply. It really makes me confused.

    mai

  100. Dear Mai,

As for the $400, you must be referring to the immigrant visa fee (U.S. $355 plus a U.S. $45 visa security enhancement surcharge). Therefore the total immigrant visa application fee is $400. For “K” (which K-3 or K-4 belongs) and “V” non-immigrant visas, the application fee is $131. You MUST pay it before your interview date at designated banks, like Banco de Oro.

Here the link to this info. http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3023.html

Let me tell you the difference between CR-1 and K-3 visa….
K-3 is a non-immigrant visa. Validity is only 2 years, and you need to apply for your Greencard or adjustment of status as soon as you arrive in the US. This adjustment will cost another $1,010.00.
The process will be about 6-8 months from filing to embassy interview.

CR-1 is an immigrant visa. Within a week or two upon your arrival in the US, you will get your Greencard in the mail. Thus, you do not need to apply for any adjustment at all. The process will about 1.5 year from filing to embassy interview. If you want to proceed with this visa, follow this guidelines http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?autocom=custom&page=i130guide1

    Hope this help.

  101. Hello Tingting,
Thanks talaga, i checked my case number, but i dont have an appointment yet, maybe it will takes a couple of weeks pa siguro bago magkaroon, il check nalang from time to time…meron pa pala akong question, sa requirements kc na dalhin ay may bank account at employer statement sa petitioner, kelangan ba yon ay hand written/type written and signed by manager or ito yong iniinsist ng fiance ko na alam niya ang pin number niya an nakikita na agad sa computer at print niya nalang ito at ipadala sa akin para ipresent ko sa embassy…yong sa u ay ano ba? kc yon ang ifollow ko since you had the experience already…baka kung kelan kc ayan na ang interview ko ay saka ko pa nalaman mali pala…thanks and Happy New Year.

  102. hi ting salamat sa info.
Is ok that if CR1 and k-3 ay sabayin pagapply? Pero i did not recieve any letter from NVC regarding sa I-130. and we even not send I-864.

At saka di ba mageexpired soon becoz it approved last oct.

    pls reply ting.

    god bless

  103. Dear Bing,

Just to verify, you are applying for K-3 visa, right? If it is, then…

The employment certificate (computerized in the company’s letterhead/logo) must be ORIGINALLY signed by the manager or HR manager. You do not need to notarized it. It should state your husband’s position, length of tenure, and current rate/salary.

About the bank statement, you can print it online if you have online access in it. Most of the banks are offering online bank statement.

By the way, did the embassy already informed you that your case is already ready for interview? Because if you did already, you can now call them to request for interview date. Here is an excerpt from the embassy’s website.

    —————————-
    K Visa Interview Appointments

  104. Hello Ting,

I havent received any info from embassy, but my fiance told me about my mnl number bcoz he received already a letter from NVC about forwarding my case to mnl and it includes in the letter also about my mnl number…im on a fiancee visa pla and got approval from USCIS Dec.10 lang, and he received notice from NVC last December 28. I havent notified yet by embassy p kc, its to early pa, i was thinking kc na once maforward na sa mla ay automatic may schedule na sa interview hehe, maybe by Feb. ko pa un mareceive, i tried to call that number just to ask only about my case, but since Globe ang telephone ko siguro kaya hindi ako siguro makapasok s kanila, siguro pag mareceive ko na letter from embassy, tatawag ako ulit to ask about my schedule…yong bank statement, tama pala siya, he can print it online, pero ang employment cert ay dapat signed by manager…he is a school teacher kc, kaya dapat sa district supervisor nila…Thank you Ting, will inform you if in case i have an schedule for interview na…right now im preparing to gather my documents needed for my interview, baka kc may malimutan ako eh…thank you so much…May you have a bountiful year 2009 and GOD BLESS.

  105. k-1 visa pala…:)

  106. He Bing,

K-1 and K-3 have the same process. So, you are in the right track. Try calling the embassy number with PLDT line. I am sure. pwede yun.

  107. hi ting,

good noon. ting just wanna ask lang. my interview was done yesterday after the interview the consular said to me ok just wait outside to call ur name but he never told me that i was denied or approved. Then when my name call in the window 37. they they give me MNL-IV-22 is a white paper stating there that i need to submit additional document.

and kelangan kung isumbit na affidavit of support:
    1. from petitioner which hindi ko alam kung anung klaseng affidavit of support yun coz i already give them the I-134.

2 and the evidence of current sustained income- anu ba ang mga ito na kasi di ko rin alam. can u pls help me.

and also blue paper to be fill out to complete my document.
this was included paper that they give me.

hoping for ur reply. coz it really bothering me a lot.

at saka is that ok if i pay the verififcation document in the embassy becoz i never pay it yet in the delbros.

    maidaved

  108. Hi Mai,

You are under Administrative Review. They are verifying the documents that you submitted.

    1. If the income stated in your I-134 is not enough, you need a co-sponsor. You need to check this website for the income bracket.

    2. Evidence of Income
Employment Certificate stating your husband’s position, rate/salary, and length of service in his company’s logo, originally signed by his manager or the hr manager.

Latest 2 or 3 years of income tax return..photocopy will do

    Bank Statement

About the document verification, you SHOULD have paid it before or on the interview date at the embassy. I suggest that your husband should call the embassy and inquire about your case. Since you have not paid yet, it will take more than a month.

  109. hi ting,

ask ko lng kung baket hiningan nila ako certificate of no marriage ng fiance ko from nso… angv nkalagay dun s blue form marriage index petr.. ang fiance ko is filipino pero us citizen n cya mtagal n.. baket kya nla hiningi un..

  110. hi ting,

ask ko lng kung baket hiningan nila ako certificate of no marriage ng fiance ko from nso… ang nkalagay dun s blue form marriage index petr.. ang fiance ko is filipino pero us citizen n cya mtagal n..

  111. Thank you very much Ms. Tingting. You are very helpful in sharing your experience. Maalis ang kaba ko. I am applying my little girl for a visa. She is an illegitimate child. Does she need a cenomar? THANK YOU VERY MUCH. GOD BLESS!

  112. Hi Anne,

Since we was once a Filipino citizen, he has a record in NSO whether he was married or not before he became a US citizen. If he was married in Pinas before, and he did not annulled it, he is considered married under the Philippine law. However, if he had filed for a divorce as a US Citizen to the Filipina ex-wife, the Phil goverment will consider that. Just do not forget to bring the divorce decree during the interview.

    Good luck!

  113. Dear Cynthia,
    You’re welcome.
Oh no, your kid DOES NOT need a CENOMAR. Her visa has a derivative status. Meaning, her visa is SOLELY dependent on yours. If you are approved, she is automatically approved. Do not worry to much about it. Just make sure that you will have her passport and birth certificate, and other proof the she is your BIOLOGICAL child.

    pro thank you ha…

  115. hi ting,
filipina ex-wife nya pro dun cla nagpksal s us, pro tagal n cla divorce…

  116. Hi Ting,

Wanna ask some questions regarding CR-1 …i have an interview this coming 15 of january with my 1 yr. old baby…as u said there’s a priority given …my appointment is 8:30 am so,do you think what time will i go there??
and can you pls. give me a hint if what was the questions ask in a cr-1 visa…i’m so nervous to be denied..Is there some instances na puede ka pa ding ma deny??…..Thanks in advance !!!!

  117. hello ms.ting,
i just wanna ask about the tax return form,im having my interview on the 27th of january.i set it almost 3 weeks from now cuz im still waiting for my BC and CENOMAR to come, and my fiance is sending me he affidavit of support.i ask him about the form 1040(the tax return thing),and he said he cant send me cuz he havent filed tax since 2006 cuz he’s been in iraq almost the whole time,he insist that it wont affect the interview cuz he did send me his stocks and investments, and his paystub.and he’s sending me the I-134 form..my question is,do you think it will affect a lot on my visa to the extent that i can be denied?im so paranoid about my interview and about these things that i have to prepare.your blog helped raised my hopes up,but i cant help sometimes to feel so worried.hoping for your answer soon, btw,il be goin to get my medical tomorrow, and im thinking of bringing a book to pass tme cuz based on what u wroe,it took almost the whole day basically on waiting..thanks again.

  118. hi ting
worried tlga ako kung ano status ng case ko kc binalik ang passport ko pro pinababalik ako pra submit ako cenomar ng fiance ko from nso..

  119. Anne,

Document verification can take from 2-6 weeks. Hope it will be soon for you.

    Zhy,
As long as your documents are all ready, you should be fine. Just be truthful and your answers must be consistent with your answers in the DS forms. It is recommended to go to the embassy AN HOUR before your appointment. Like me, I was there 6.30am even if my appointment was 7.30am. In the end, I and my daughter finished first before some of the 6.30am interviewees. Good luck.

    Dear Pearl,
It would help if he could provide a notarized letter stating on the reason on why he was not able to file his tax. The ITR is very important proof of income.

Bringing a book will be fine. But do not be too engrossed, you might not hear your name on the speaker.

  120. Hi Anne,

Bakit ang tagal ng CENOMAR mo? It will only take a few minutes for NSO to print it (well, aside from the waiting).Don’t lose hope, as long as your documents are all real, you should be fine. It may take for a while for your visa to be approved, just be patient. Take care.

  121. thank you ting!

    take care…

  122. hi ting-ting,
Thanks for the reply….your thread l helped a lot ….siguro i’ll just pray na lang din…Wish me and my baby all the luck……godbless !!!

  123. hi ting,

im here again, just wanna ask lang kasi i already submit the additional doc na hinihingi ng embassy sa akin kasi nga my kulang ako including my passport. so, after i submit tinanong nila ako kung yun ang present add na nakalagay doon sa form ko. then, sabi sa akin after maverify nila lahat yung doc ko they send the visa, passport to me. but they never issue pink slip to us and we never pay for the delivery kasi sabi nila doon who accept my additional doc na once my visa ay ideliver saka na ako magbabayad.

tanung ko ako ba ay approved na? at how long will takes before they deliver?

I was under the administrative review pala ting…. nagneed lang sila ng additional doc kasi kulang.

hope to hear from ur reply
    god bless

  124. Thank you very much Ting!

  126. hi ting,

how long will takes before they send ang visa to the applicant after they recieve the additional document?

at saka ang sa delbros na binabayaran na 650 sa banko for doc verification ay kelangan ba kahit ikaw ang nagasikaso sa mga document sa NSO? even the embassy did not require you to pay? and how to refund the said amount (PHP 650) sa delbros?

I was not under the administrative review pala ting. kasi ang sabi sa kin they want only me to submit additional doc for the affidavit of support.

looking forward to hear from u..

    god bless

  127. Hi Mai,
I suggest to let your USC petitioner contact the embassy directly. That’s what my husband did after our interview. They will give you the status. Even if you processed the documents with NSO, the embassy will still check it again with NSO. I do not see any reason on why you should ask for a refund. it is a requirement to pay the doc verification.

    Dear Cynthia,

Kung walang problema yong documents and med exam result mo, it should be printed perhaps a day of two from interview. Then, add 3-5 days for the Delbros delivery. Kung may document verification pa, medyo matagal rin…4-8 weeks.

    Hi Lyn,
Definitely. They will know if you have an undissolved marriage in the Philippines. Might as well get all your divorce and annulment papers ready. I suggest, you gave them a copy during the interview. Bring also the certified copy.

  128. hi ting,

That’s why i said if i can refund my 650 kasi nga the embassy did not required me to pay that said amount PHP650 for the doc ver. Bakit ting yung sau diba sinabi na approved ka or did they ask u additional doc. Kasi ako after i submit additional doc. they never told us to pay a delivery fee in delbros and they never issue anything on us sabi nila saka na kami magbayad ng fee pagdeliver na ang visa namin.

do it necessary that our husband should call to the embassy to verify the result of our interview? ting, k3 rin ba ang sau? yung bang pag apply ng AOS ay kelangan magapply agad sa US once u arrived? at may interview parin ba yan?

ting how to verify ba sa delbros kung naprocess na ang visa ng isang applicant?

    mai

  129. hi ting,

tanung lang ako ting, after the delbros recieved our payment anung confirmation ang ibibigay nila satin i mean message na ipadadala nila sa tin? may tracking number ba o something?

kasi sa message na isenend nila sa akin at ito. they acknowledge the deposit i made and they confirm my payment to the doc. verification as reqiured by the embassy. yun lang…

    mai

  130. Hello Mai,

I suggest that — do not request for refund without your visa yet. Who knows what the embassy will do.

Actually, you can call them yourself. The reason on why I suggest that the USC petitioner will call the embassy because they can demand for the info needed. The embassy is a US government office. This is the best advise I can give you. USEM: 02-3012000 loc 5184 or 5185 look for Grace or Lorraine

From time to time, you can also text Delbros to check if your visa is on its way.

Type MNL case number and put 01 at the end space type STATUS then send it to 0917-6221-949.Hope this helps.

  131. ting,

  132. hello ting,

  136. Hi Kris,

In relation to your I-130 filing, I chose “Others”, then write “K-3 Visa” sa may blank space. Same pa rin for I-129F, “Others” then “K-3 Visa”.

  137. Dear Zhy,

    Here is Delbros’ website …http://delbros.com/category/news-and-events/

You can also follow up through text.
    Type ” ” then send to +639176221949
For Example “MNL00235120301 status ” then send to +639176221949

  138. Hi Ashley,

Here is the filing fee for K-3 visa application:
    I-130 — US$355.00
    I-129F—US$NONE

USCIS is right. I-129F has no fee if it is filed in relation to a K-3 visa application. Here is the USCIS official link http://www.uscis.gov/files/nativedocuments/FinalUSCISFeeSchedule052907.pdf.

Also, CASE RECEIVED AND PENDING is normal. This was my application’s status for so long too.Did you already registered for the USCIS Case Online Status Services? If not, I suggest you regsiter so you can monitor if somebody “touches” your papers.

    Hope this helps.

  139. hi ting

    ano ibig sabihin nyan?
yan b ung kung kelan nila last n tinignan ung case status nmin or kung kelan nila last n-touched?? just wondering lng kc ala aq alam s gnito e…thanks in advance ting…

  141. Hi Anne,

AR usually takes from 4-8 weeks.

    Hello Ashley,
yes, you are right. The date reflects the last time your papers were “touched” or looked into. When you check on it everyday, and notice frequent change in the date, it is usually a good sign. Well, maybe not directly approved, but somehow somebody is reveiwing your case.Good luck!

  142. hi ting,,

thank you so much for reply..i let u know my status as soon as i find out that somebody touch it..wish me luck ting…

  143. tnx ting sa reply

  144. hello ting,

hope you doing ok. me question ko medyo complicated but i think matutulungan mo ko.

i was married and annuled already with one daughter. i got married to usc last year at the us since i’ve got a multiple visa. we haven’t file anything kc ang worry ko is baka pumunta agad kmi ng america which is di pa ko ready for that. and aside from that i’m working overseas. now my husband want us to go to US kc matatapos n din ung contract nya.

    my questions as follow:
    1. do i have to file a separate i-130 for my daughter?
    2. do i have to request of change of passport from my previous marriage to my new surname?
    3. step by step para lng masimulan ko or namin ang papers namin going sa america.
    4. do i have to get a visa “tourist visa” for my daughter para lng makapunta n kami sa america at doon mag asikaso
    5. di ba ko magkakaproblem if di muna ko magpapalit ng passport which indicate my previous surname then since ngaun ang gingamit ko is ung sa present husband’s surname ko?
    6. since i checked our record to nso and we found out that we dont have a record yet, do we need to re-marry again and get another license sa pinas para lang magkaroon kmi ng record sa nso at masimulan ko ng mga pagpapalit ng docs ko? what are the consequences kung ikakasal uli kami sa pinas this time.

sensya at mdami kong tanong na wala namang makasagot. hope this will helps me to clear everything

    thanks,
    jamila

  145. Hi Jamila,

Thanks for dropping by at my site. I will answer your questions.

    1. Yes. YOu will have to submit a separate I-130 for you and your daughter. Hence, you will be paying US$355.00 x 2.

    2. You do not have to, but I STRONGLY suggest for you to change your passport name to your current surname to avaoid confusion along the way. Also, it is advisable to use your passport name in all your USCIS forms. I am sure, you do not want you ex-husband surname in there. Take note — you have to attend the CFO seminar to get a new passport.

    3. The very first question, I have to ask — what kind of visa are you applying to? K-3/K-4 or CR-1/CR-2?

Here is the step-by-step guid for K-3/K-4 http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?autocom=custom&page=k3guide

    Here is for CR-1/CR-2 http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?autocom=custom&page=i130guide1

I used the same website for my reference when I started our visa application. If you want, you can also join the forum and ask the co-members if you have questions along the way. Believe me, they wll get to you in a matter of minutes.

    5. Well, not really. But it gives you the burden of presenting more proofs. To make things easier and clearer that your ex-husband and you were “finished”, use your current surname (USC).

    6. Your MC should be good if it is legal in the country where you got married. I suggest that you get a certified copy (just like in NSO..I dunno if they have those). The main burden of the proof here is that you have no current marriage in the Philippines. Eventually, you will have to present a CENOMAR or DISSOLUTION OF MARRIAGE. Read more on how to request it here http://www.census.gov.ph/data/civilreg/civapfaq.html#legitimation.This document will show the name (s) of your ex-husband(s). As long as you have the final annulment decree on hand, you shall be good. Include a copy there in your I-130 submission.

    Hope this helps.

  146. Ms. Ting,

Thank you very much for your response. Nakahinga ko kahit paano.

Actually nagtatalo kmi ng husband ko about k3 or cr1 or 2. i want to work in US once andun n ko. kahit ano wag lang akong tumigil sa house but per my understanding pag k3 i can’t work though we can apply to adjust my status. on your experience what do you suggest for me to apply first k3 or cr1 or 2?

About sa authenticated from US, i’ve got it already. Authenticated copy of our marriage license but the big question is wala kong record sa atin sa NSO ng marriage namin ng asawa ko. They already issued CENOMAR (i believe) saying that me and my husband doesn’t have any file or our marriage contract. Ang big question ko is tanggapin kaya ng NSO ung authenticated copy of marriage contract namin then kmi nlng ang mag file sa NSO to have record of our contract?

One more thing, since we dont have a record we are planning to use/get another passport but using my surname nung single pa ko. DO you thing this will be better? and what is CFO seminar? what is this for?

Madami po kong tanong. Thanks po sa tulong.

  147. hi ting
    have a good day..
i just found out n ng change n ng processing dates ung VSC knina lang. it said processing at VSC as of nov.30, 2008
I-129f—for already married (timeframe nila is april, 2008 something) un ung nkalagay dun…ting ano b ibig sabihin nyan?
ibig b sabihin nyan date of april 2008 plang ang pina-process nilang petition now?
then, I-130—for spouse din(timeframe nila is same din s I-129f which is april. 1, 2008 din) ano un?
ung TIMEFRAME b n yan, un ung date palang ng april ang pina-process din nila? ting, can u explain it to me exactly what is goin on. how they start processing the petition we filed???? medyo naguguluhan tlaga kc aq e..kc kung tama hinala ko meaning to say matagal p kmi mghihintay n i-process nila at pansinin petition nmin…i hope im wrong kc nape-pressure n din aq always thinkin about our petition..we are hoping kc n mkaalis sana kmi before june. this year para mkita ko nman hubby q as soon as possible kc he is excited to see our new born baby too…sana ma explain u sakin tungkol jan…thanks in advance!!

  148. Hi Jamila,

If you are so concern of wroking immediately when you arrive here, then go for CR-1. YOu will receive your GC in a matters of weeks from your arrival.

Are you currently outside the country/Philippines? If yes, you should report your marriage to the nearest Philippines Consular Office. If you are already in the Philippines, contact NSO directly for the requirements. They should accept your autheticated copy of MC because it is just the same as a certified ture copy.

Really, use your married name. As long as you have proof that your are the current wife, no problem.

A CFO seminar is a requirement for anybody who is spouse or a fiancee to a foriegner. You can not leave the country without this. It is required in getting a passport in your married name or even if you are just a finacee.

Just my suggestions based on my experiences:
    1. Get your passport in your married name already. This maybe tough for this process, but it the long run it will give you ease in everything that you have to file when you are here.
    2. Attend the CFO seminar now!
    3. Go to NSO and inquire about their marriage registry requirements, and do it.

  149. Dear Ashley,

Do not stress too much with the posted processing times in their webiste. I got my approval wayyyy adavance to what was posted on the website.

    Just for information–
When the site posted April 1, 2008 for I-130, it means that they are processing cases with, more or less, April 1, 2008 NOA1 date.

  150. hi ting,

thanks for the advices …. just wanna ask lang can we work ba right away sa US pag k3 ang petition na ginamit entering the US?

At yung pag apply ng adjustment of status ba at may interview uli?

    maidave

  151. Dear Mai,

With K-3, no. You have to file for AOS or EAD. In short, it will take a while for you to work–maybe 4-5 months from submission of packet.

  152. hi ting
i just read your timeline here..just wondering lng..k3 spousal visa k din dba? na-approved kagad ang I-130 mo then next ung s I-129f mo, klangan b gnun din mgyari sakin? i mean s petition nmin which is k3 din aq kgaya mo..klangan b hintayin p nmin ang approval ng I-130 bgo ang s I-129F? kla q kc ang I-130 e s states n aq mghihintay ng approval nun basta naipasa n nmin un then ang hihintayin nming approval dto e ung s I-129F lng kc un nga ung quickiest time ng k3 dba,,u have to submit the I-130 PETITION FIRST THEN I-129F IS FOLLOW..and it said i dont need to Wait for the approval of the pending I-130 as long as i submitted the I-129F kc un nman ang gagamitin ko muna dto pra no need for me to wait so long,, can u explain this part to me? hope u can give me some idea..thanks

  153. Hello Ms. Ting:

Thanks for the advise. I will do that. I also emailed NSO for my inquiry (hope they will answer). I will process my new surname when I go home this April for our 2nd wedding. And i guess my husband planning to apply for k3 so i have time to adjust in US.

About CFO, can i process it through agency or do i have to go directly at dfa?

Madam, thank you so much for all your help. Salamat din sa mga nag sha – share sa site n ito. Malaking tulong ito lalo n sa mga bago at di alam kung saan ba mag start…we have an idea about the process but we dont know the step by step.

    salamat kapabayan!

  154. hi ting ask ko lng kung pano ko malaman status ng visa application ko kc db under review p daw sb s akin nung nag submit ako ng naddt’l doc. ano e mail add or contact number kya pwede ko itanong?

  157. Greetings,
I have been reading the comments in here and hope any of you can help me with our problem. My Fianc`ee had her Interview on Jan 15th and was given a blue slip and a white slip with 2 checkmarks, documents they request and given her passport back but they kept all the other papers. On the I-134 she submitted, her son was not on line 10 but i did enter him on line 3. He is now on line 10. i notice on the new form no place to noterize like the first one submitted Also she is pegnant now as of my last visit in Sept we made a baby, I wrote a letter informing them i am aware of the pregnancy and that i will support our child till the age of 18 as requested. The Cosular has directed her to go to the semanar again and get the no marriage document (this was submitted at her interview) She will have this done tomarrow Jan 28th and on the 29th she will present the documents they requested at 17 W. I just feel they are gonna stall and make her have the baby there as she is gonna be 5 months along this Febuary. This is very frustrating as my medical insurance will only pay if we are married. I would just come and marry her in the Philippines but we have came so far now and we would have to start the process all over. How long will it take after the documents they request are presented to get her visa? Will she have to do another interview ? We wish to be married before the baby is born and there is no question i am the father. i just feel the Embassy might want proof and force her to deliever there, have me take DNA ,pay for the birth there, and who knows what else. Any imput would be appreciated.
God bless evryone and i pray she can get the visa soon.
    Thankyou, Ken

  158. Dear Ashley,

All you need in order to start your K-3 process is the NOA (Notice of Action–not the approval) of your I-130. Once you have it, photocopy and attach it in your I-129F packet. Usually, the I-130 and I-129F are approved on the same day. However, this is not true to all cases. You can only proceed with K-3 if your I-129F is approved. If both are approved at the same time, you have the option to choose between K-3 and CR-1.

  159. Dear Jamila,

    You’re welcome.

As for the CFO seminar, you have to personally attend it. You have to sign papers, and they will take a picture of you, which will be printed in the certificate. By the way, you do not have to go to DFA yet. The seminar will be handled by a different office, not the DFA. You will only go to DFA for the passport processing itself. Do not waste your time waiting there. There are two locations for these seminar, in Manila, and in Cebu. Here is the link.http://www.cfo.gov.ph/

If you are attending in the Manila location, you can reserve online. Here is the link.http://www.cfo.gov.ph/reservation.htm

  160. Dear Anne,

Let your USC petitioner to call the embassy to know tha real score –that is the best way.

USEM Immigration Visa Unit locs. 5184/5185 and ask for Grace or Lorraine

  161. Dear Grace,

NBI clearance has one year validity. But for the sake of peace of mind, get a newer one –nearer to your interview date.

  162. Dear MaiDave,

Yes, AOS has an interview here in the US. However, some are lucky, especially those cases that were forwarded to the California Service Center, got an approval w/o the interview. Of course, this is if the proofs presented are so strong to doubt.

As for the delay if your visa, you are not alone. Some cases even take about 2 motnhs.

  163. hi ting
    have a good day!!
    i just wanna ask something…
1–is that true that VSC is faster than the other service center esp. working for the petition we filed? do u have any idea how long they approve the I-129f petition?
2–regarding to my daughter, my hubby didnt file her a separate I-130 as a derivative child, but he put her name to my I-129f petition, is that ok?? cuz i thought children do not need a separate I-130 but the petitioner must name all the children to the I-129f petition.
3–for interview at the u.s. embasi, do i need to get a CENOMAR or DISSOLUTION OF MARRIAGE from the NSO just to prove that i get annuled from my previous married? if yes, wat else do i need to bring? is just a certified copy from the NSO saying that my married before is annuled already?
4–wat kinds of affidavit of support do i need from my USC hubby? I-134 or I-864? does my hubby need to send me a tax return receipt even if he is in the u.s. armed force?
5–we have a new born baby, do u have any idea how to register my new born baby here at the u.s. embasi in manila just to get her u.s. passport? cuz they said i have to register my baby first so she can get the citizenship as an american citizen before i can get her a u.s. passport..do u know wat kinds of form do i need for the registration? and for the passport?
    thanks in advance ting..godbless yah!!

  164. ting,,
i forgot to ask about the police certificate
wat kind of police certificate b un? do i have to go back to japan or korea just to get that? cuz they said they need it during the interview as one of the requirements, it said police certificate from all countries n tinirahan ko since i was 16 yrs.old and above..just curious about it kung pano to mg wo-work

  165. Dear Ashley,

    1. Based on observation, Yes. It usualkly take around 110-120 days from NOA1 to NOA2.

    2. Since you are pushing for a K-3 & K-4 visa application, this is fine. However, when you will arrive in the USA and need to adjust your status, you HAVE to submit a separate I-130 for your daughter. You can submit it along with her I-485.

    3. I suggest that you bring thr NSO certified copy of the CENOMAR and the original copy of your final annulment. Also, do noy forget to bring your daughte’s BC in NSO security paper.

    4. It should be I-134, since it is K-3/K-4.

    5. You need to register your child with the embassy and then, you can apply for US passport. Here is the link..http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwhppt.html

  166. Dear Ashely,

Yes, you should request for that document wayyyy advacne. Usually, these documents will cause the delay of visa printing, since it will take a very long while to have the docs ready. Do it now!

  169. hi ting,

do i need, to give all, the DS from,,in a day that i have a interview or do i need, to send, to embassy online?? and do i need, a DS156K for interview??? hope, you got your responce soon, i cant sleep, well, in siveral days ,, my husband will be here soon,, to be with me on interview, ,, but, i dont know, if im, complete all, the requarments , hope, ting, you can , list all, i need, in interview,, Thank you very much

    Grace

  170. Hello Tingting,

I hope you can also help me with my inquiry. We are just starting the K3 visa process and I’m wondering if I should use my last name when I was still single or my husband’s last name. We just got married last month and I haven’t used his last name yet and haven’t changed any of my documents to his last name such as my passport. Will it be a problem if I use my last name when I was still single in all USCIS documents? and just use my husbands name later when I get to US and apply for a change in status or the GC? I had a hard time renewing my current passport and certainly don’t want to go thru it again unless needed.

I hope to get a response from you soon. Me and my husband is in limbo right now…

    Sincerely,
    Maureen

  171. This site is terrible i asked for some help and explained our problem my Fianc`ee is having and not 1 response. To everyone who read my post thanks for nothing. I will serch now for a forum with people who can help us with some questions we have. god bless

  172. Dear Grace,

What visa are you applying for? Is it K-3?If yes…the DS forms are to be sumitted during the embassy interview.
DS156K is for K-1 or fiance visa only, not K-3.

This is the list of documents that you need to bring in your embassy interview…http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwfk3en.pdf

  173. Dear Maureen,

Of course, you can use your maiden name. YOu can use your married name in the petition forms (I-130 and I-129F). DO not worry, because one part of the form will ask for your “other name” which is usually the maiden name. As long as you have the MC, it should be fine.

  174. Dear Ken,

Sorry if I have not asnwered your query. Your case looks complicated. All I can say is — you still have a long way to go in getting your visa, with a great burden of proof.

You are right. I-134 does not need to be notarized. Oh well, you can join VisaJourney for more info…

  175. Thankyou Ting for responding,
My Fianc`ee turned in the documents that were requested yesterdaY to 17W The I-134 and the certificate of singleness.
They took her passport asked if this is the address you still live at and is this the correct phone number. She did not pay the Delbro`s fee though. They just tell her they will be getting in contact with her. What do you think about this Ma`am Ting?

  176. hello Ting,

thank you very much for your responce ,,, can i do ask again, about the first requarments , the proof of payments, my husband have a reciept that he paid the apllication, aboout 131$ in US , but . in requarments its payble, in peso here in phillipines , why is that ting , it is acceptable our reciept from US , hope, you response ting

    Thank you :-)

    Grace

  177. hello ting i will ask again , did PHIsical and Medical, is thesame????? :-?

    Grace

  178. Dear Ken,

Looks like there is light at the end of the tunnel for you. Do not worry too much about the Delbros thing. When the embassy issues the visa, your fiance can always pay the Delbros collect.

  179. Dear Grace,

Where did he paid the visa fee? Is it with the National Visa Center? How much did he pay? For non-immigrant visa, it should be paid in the Philippines, unless if he paid something with NVC, thus gearing towards a CR-1 immigrant visa.

Physical exam is part of the whole medical exam. Bascially, physical means checking your physical condition…eyes, skin, ears, weight, height, etc. This is one reason on why you will be asked at one point to shed your clothes during the exam.

  180. Thankyou again for responding and the visajourney site is wonderfull information there. Why do you say not to worry so much about the Debro`s pay? How on earth is that paid collect? Im just worried about not being married before the birth of our child. Can you please fill me in more about paying collect. How would she do that? We are both excited ,worried and not know what will happen next. They just took her passport and said you can go know we will be in contact with you? She is coming on 5 months pregnant this Febuary. We just have no idea what is happening now,but taking her passport was a good sign. (i think) Can you give me your opinion and what to expect next Ma`am God bless you

  181. Dear Ken,

The good thing is–they took her passport..on where the visa will be posted. The best suggestions that I can give you — call the embassy. They will tell you the real status of your case. That’s what my husband did before. USEM: 02-3012000 loc 5184 or 5185

By the way, I have to correct that. The embassy is no longer using Delbros. It’s Air21.

  182. hi ting
    have a good day!!
ask ko lng sana s requirements ng k4 which is derivative, need ko b ang approval or consent ng dati kong asawa para lng makasama ang anak ko sakin going to u.s.? if its yes, pano aq makakakuha noon? klangan ko p b mkpgkita s mokong n un ulit? (which is ayoko n tlaga sana) is that one of the requirements they need from me pg dating n ipapasa ko n ang mga papers nmin s interview for k3 and k4?
    thanks in advance!!

  183. Thank you ting, for your responce ,, can i ask again , i didnt have vacine record , it will be a big deal ???? or do i need, to be vaccinated b4 medical exam,,?? very curous so far ,, i am waiting to the call of embassy ,, and anytime i will have my schdule . it will be a big help, for me if my husband and me are together on interview???? tnx for your help, ting , God Blss

    Grace

  184. hello ting

did my medical schdule was including in the appointment of interview that i am waiting now,,,or can i get medical, erlier than appoinment??

    Grace

  185. hi ting,

we already filed our I-130,however,dun sa middlename ang natype nya yung second name ko not my maiden name, would there be any problem there? we already receive the notice of action sa I 129-f same lang din ang nilagay niya, tnx

  186. Dear Ashley,

A travel clearance for minors, which will be requested with DSWD, is only required if the child will travel with other persons, and not ANY of her/his bio parents. Here is the link for more info. http://www.dswd.gov.ph/faqdetails.php?id=47

  187. Dear Grace,

No big deal for the vacinnations. SLEC will administer some of it during the med exam, and then the lacking will be completed in the US before you can procede with your AOS. As for the chicken pox, look for a prominent scar now. They will ask you for it. If you have a scar to show them, then you do not need the varicella vaccine (which very expensive in the US) at all.

Get you medical exam one-two weeks ahead from your interview date. Just present your appointment schedule. If you already have your NOA2, this will suffice to get the med exam in advance.

  188. Dear Kris,

To correct the mistake call USCIS and be sure to talk to a live person. It takes patience to do this. Just be prepare with what type of form and box/block/line that you need to correct. The petitioner needs to do this. They will give you a reciept number. File this receipt number to prove that you have requested for a correction already, in case it will not be corrected. As soon as they resolve it, USCIS will send you an email.

    Hope this helps.

  189. hi ms. ting!!
I am really much impressed with your blog site. Can you share it with me? I want to have my own too, and i want to join your community.
I was scheduled on feb 5 at the US Embassy for my interview.

I’m a married woman , also petitioned by my husband who is luckily joined U.S Airforce , both of us are filipino.

Actually I am a li’l bit tense and nervous , few days form now i feel like that it is my judgement day LOL!!

Can you give me some ideas with my case? I was filed as Immigrant Visa but the NVC considered me as K3 but we’ve got married already , I dunno if it is just their way to fast forward my case.

    Thank you.

    Ms. Lala

  190. Hi Lala,

    Thank you for the compliment.

Good luck on your interview. As long as your are ready with your documents, you should be fine. By the way, are you done with your medical exam now?

Actually, it was not NVC’s decision whether you will apply for a K-3 or CR-1. It should be your (and your husband’s choice), since required forms need to be signed. If you submit I-130, then I-129F, it should be K-3.
K-3 is considered as a spousal non-immigrant visa, but it is treated as an immigrant in the embassy process. It is much faster than CR-1 or IR-1. Basically, when you arrive in the USA, you have to adjust your status to legal permanent resident in order to get your Greencard.

As for making a blog, you can start using http://www.wordpress.com or http://www.blogger.com.

    thanks !

  192. Hi Ting!

Anyhow, i just want to ask u if i needed a copy of the DS230 form w/ me on the interview since i have already filed it before? Btw, i am on a CR1 category and my interview will be on the 12th of this month. And also i wanted to be clear on the police certificate issue. Do i have to get it from all the cities that i’ve lived here in PI or is NBI clearance enough? Thank u so much in advance and God bless!

  198. hope you responce soon,,thank you ting

  199. Hi Ms Ting! Been browsing looking for some ideas about my case and luckily i get into your site. I just have my interview this morning under a CR1 status, at first I’m a lil confident believing I have the most presentable docs presentation until the consul ask me if I have CENOMAR that’s where I started getting nervous. Anyway to cut the long story short i was advised to get Marriage Index from NSO.

My husband and I got married twice, one in 2005 (Christian garden wedding) & the other one 2007 (civil wedding). Our official declaration of our marriage for my visa application was 2007. My question is, “Since I’ll be getting marriage index from NSO as required, will this be a ground for a possible denial”? The consul ask me if i have previous marriage before 2007 I said “No” thinking I never been married to other man anyway.

Thanks for your effort in helping someone like me. Just really need someone to ease such burden.. More power to you and God bless you!

  200. hi ting
    have a good day!!
just wanna ask if its ok to expedite our I129f petition? so maybe our petition get approve fast? just wondering cuz i just saw a column at the website for the wifes of a u.s. armed forced saying that the military can expedite their petition for their spouse and children, all they need to do is call the military service hotline but i have no idea regarding this matter.,i heard some rumors also that if ur hubby is a military or atleast their working at the government they gonna give some special treatment for their petition but i dont believed that,,right now i feel that our petition gonna take forever to get approve and im losing hope thinking about that..we expected that we gonna be together again this coming april but i really dont know if its gonna happen, im getting paranoid too much thinking about that. still hoping that its not gonna take long, i hope so….
    thanks in advance!!

  201. hi ting

    good day,

just wanna ask lang were can we get a tracking number yun ba ay nasa receipt number na binayaran mo sa delbros for visa delbros? how about if we never pay yet in delbros makikita ba nila yung case status namin?

    hope to hear from you.

    mai

  202. Dear Yanne,

7-10 working days. You can check with Air21 if your visa is already on its way to your doorstep. Here is the link…http://www.air21.com.ph/?q=track

  203. Dear Jophine,

Here is the complte list of the documents that you need to present duing the interview..http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwfiven.pdf.
This includes DS230. To be sure, you can bring your copy of the existing DS230 and fill out a new DS230 dated on the day of your interview.

NBI Clearance is enough, since it already covers the whole nation. If you lived in OTHER COUNTIRES for more than six months, you need to get a police clearance of that country/place.

    Good luck!

  204. Dear Jackie,

You need to present the original copy of the validated DS157. As for the second copy, a photocopy or scanned copy will do. Are you applying for a K-3 visa? Sure I can have a look at your documents. Just email me at tingting.rimart-at-yahoo-dot-com.

  205. Dear Grace,

    Sorry for the late reply.

You can pay you visa pplication fee in Banco De Oro and Citibank. When you pay at bank, bring your compueterized DS157, and the bank will just validate it. If not, you can attach the bank receipt with your DS157 form.

Here is the link for BDO..http://www.bdo.com.ph/Promos/US_payment.htm

Here is the link for Citibank…http://www.citibank.com.ph/portal/citiph_home.htm

  206. Dear Naids,

CENOMAR is clearly stated in the required documents for CR-1 packet. Obviously, you did not do you assignment. LOL! Just kidding.

As long as you DO NOT HAVE an existing marriage with any other man, you should be good. Basically, when you request for CENOMAR, but you were (or are) married at one point in your life, NSO will automatically give you the Advisory On Marriages form. This document will state the name of all marriages that you have contracted to in the Philippines.

  207. Dear Ashley,

I got this from Visa Journey , posted by Matt about this military expedite procedures..

-In order to apply for military expedite, the USC must be pending deployment in support of OEF/OIF.
-Its best to fax your request to the service center handling your case. (Call USCIS information line to get your service centers fax number)

THINGS TO INCLUDE IN THE FAX

-A cover letter (include a return fax number)

    -Copy of NOA1

-Copy of orders showing you will be deploying in support of OEF/OIF
(if orders cannot be obtained, a letter from your commander stating you are deploying, and when you are deploying, will suffice.)

    - A letter from yourself, stating why your deployment would case hardship and/or interfere with the immigration process.

If a return fax is not recieved, the expedite is considered denied. (When i recieved the return fax, they just faxed me back the letter from my commander)

    If youre expedite is approved:

There is no way to expedite the NVC portion of a K-1 case.

You will need to apply for an expedited interview at the Foreign Consulate. (Consult with the foreign embassy’s website for expedite criteria)

  208. Dear Maidave,

Actually, the tracking number is your MNL case number plus “01″. Try it.

  209. hi!
    greetings

i have an immediate concern regarding my us visa application.we were interviewed last dec.19 and we have not receive a notice or a form requesting for additional documents needed for us to submit. anybody there who also encountered this kind of problem?
what shall i do? please advise

    ignas

  210. Dear Ignas,

I can give you only one advise — let your USC petitioner call the embassy to inquire about the status of your case. I am sure, they are the only one that can give you the real status.

  211. hi ting!
    thanks for the reply…….

my employers staff told me to that bi will be the one to follow this matter to the embassy………….

i’ll just call the embassy to inquire about this

    ignas

  212. hi!

your site is very helpful.thanks again
    godbless

  213. Hello Ting! Thanks for your reply. What a relief, really! I assured you that I only married one man hehehehe. I just came home from NSO for my Marriage Index/CENOMAR copy but unfortunately it will be available in two 2 weeks time. I really didn’t expect that I’ll be needing this docs since I am already married to my petitioner, I thought this one is for individual who havent been married. All along I was basing my compilation of required docs from http://www.ImmigrantVisas.state.gov. Again from the bottom of my heart thanks for your input.

  214. Hi ting I’m applying as k-1 visa n today I’m for medical examination I’m quite nervous n on February 20 I’m for interview. The reason I asked about ds 157 so I can arrange the papers properly. 221. Dear Naids, Anne, and Ignas,

    YOu’re welcome.

    Dear Renz,
Here is an updated link of the timeline. http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/stats.php?cfl=
    Hope this helps.

    Dear Lita,
Ask your USC peitioner to call the embassy to inquire about the REAl status of your case. Do not worry. You are not alone in this kind of case. The delay can range from 6-8 weeks.

    Dear Sheila,

NSO is correct. It should not post a problem to you. The imporatnt info the embassy needed in the one in SECPA certified copy, not the request form.

    Dear Eaunice,
2 years?! What visa did you apply for? Something is wrong in your case…please give me more details.

    Dear Ashley,
Base don statistics, average timelime from filing to embassy interview is 8 mos. Check this link..http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/stats.php?cfl=

  224. Hello Ma`am Ting,
My Fiancee submitting the requested documents to the Embassy after recieving the blue slip and the white slip on her interview day of Jan 15th. She submitted the request for the new I-134 and a new semanar of no marriage on the 28th of January then took my Fiancee`s and Sons passports she was asked if this is her correct address and phone number. She responded yes and was told to go now and wait for us to contact you. I called the Embassy like you said on Febuary 3rd and spoke to Ma`am Grace. She was very pleasent to me and she must have looked at our documents because she said to me Sir Ken everything looks good to me as i see you have submitted the required document showing you are aware of the pregnancy and also i see you wrote the USCIS in Oct.
we have the documents that the Consular requested. Its on the Consulars desk and she will make the decision. Please call back next week if you dont hear anything. My fiancee never was told to go to any window for Air21 to submit anything to them. What is your thinking on this matter? God bless you
    Ken

  230. Dear Ken,
    Sorry for the late reply.

Do not worry about it. Air21 can deliver the visa collect. Your fiancee is not alone in this case.

    Dear Burt,
    Thanks for the compliment. :-)

    Dear Jackie,
Even if you will give them a certified copy from NSO, they will still verify your documents.

    Dear Jennifer,
Oh no! You do not need the receipt..just the NSO certified copy. That’s all.Besides, your home address does not show in the card.

    Dear Ashley,
It was around 6-7 months from filing to interview.

    Dear Mai,
Regardless of where you got your SSN, it’s fine. It;s centraized.

  232. Hello Ting, I already got my K1 visa yesterday. It was the Air21 courier that delivered to me, COD (cash on delivery). Jenny

  235. Dear Jennifer,
Welcome to America! If CO said that you are apprived -that’s it. About sa work permit naman, I am afraid but can not apply for it, since the validity of your I-94 (which you will get at your POE) is only 90 days. Work permit is usually valid at least 1 year, is based on your I-94. When you arrive here, make sure that you will get married BEFORE the 90 days grace period. Also, do not forget to get your SNN BEFORE you will get married at your nearest SSA Office. I suggest get you SSN after you will arrive here, maybe a week or two.

  236. Dear Lita,
I am glad you already have your visa. Welcome to America!

    Dear Grace,
I suggest to wait for your appointment notification before you pay. Besides, it will not be that near to your interview date, I am sure. As for me, I paid my visa fee a day before my interview, and it worked fine.

  237. Hi Ting,

I would just like to ask when you secured an NBI clearance, did your name has the ff format:

    YOUR_SURNAME de HUSBAND’S_NAME, GIVEN_NAME y MAIDEN_NAME

Is there really a “de” in between two surnames? I just got married two months ago and I have started with all the paper works for my visa just now.

    thanks in advance,

    Abie

  238. hi ting san mag apply pra makuha ng snn? dapat ba kumuha ako before kmi makasal? may nabasa ako na kumuha cya ng snn before marriage pro nagkproblem cla s name nya after married… ano ba dapat before or after marriage kukuha ng snn.? cenccia n ting medyo nguluhan lng ako..

  239. Dear Abbie,
Yes. The same format is reflected in my NBI clearance. It is already the standarx format, so NO problem at all.

    Dear Anne,
Yes. Since you are a K-1 visa holder, you can acquire your SSN even BEFORE your marriage or EAD. Go to your nearest local SSA Office. Do not forget to bring your Passport (with visa nd I-94). You can locate it here https://secure.ssa.gov/apps6z/FOLO/fo001.jsp.

    Hope this helps, ladies.

  251. Dear Gem,
The embassy already discontinued the document verification as part of the requirement. However, they can still do it with their discretion. Just follow and bring ALL documents stated in the K-1 appointment packet and you should be good. Here is the link…http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwfk1en.pdf

    Dear alecsa,
Just like what I stated above, wala na ang document verification. Usually, you will get your visa 5-70 days from its isuance, unless seguro kung kailangan pa nila i-check some of your documents. That is why, it is very imporatnt to bring ALL required documents during the interview. The embassy is already using Air21 now.

    Dear Jennifer,
Wait until 10 days….kung hindi mo pa rin ma-receive call the embassy.

    Dear Palmy,
Please enlighten me. I am very confused. You got married without seeing your husband? How did you get married?

If you mean that you have seen your husband personally for just oonce during the entire petition process, it should be fine. I and my husband got married on our first meeting, although we have been communicating for 3.5 years prior to that. We were approved. Just gather A LOT of proofs…like pictures, cards, money transfer receipts, hotl receipt, used plane ticket, etc.

    Dear Ashely,
Do not worry too much. That’s what happened to our case. Our I-129F was not “touched” for so long but only our I-130. But you know what? Both forms were approved on the same day. This is usually the case.

As for my timeline, I was pretty lucky. We got approve din about 75 days from NOA1. But these days, it will take longer now. Based on statistics….about 135 days between NOA1 and NOA2. here is the link..http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/stats.php?cfl=

    Dear Sheila,
Just put “relocating permanently with USC petitioner”. Yeah, you can pay your visa fee in advacne when your have your date.

    Dear Jackie,
    Congrats!

  252. hi ting

  257. I did pass in the interview Visa granted!!!yahoo!! Thank u for the prayers…

  258. Hello Ms. Rimart. I just have a question, my mom applied for a working visa and was interviewed last yr first week of September 08 but she was placed under “administrative processing”. We waited patiently (and painfully) though we’re already on the decision to just give up the waiting…until 4th month, the first week of Jan 09, the US embassy called my mom asking for additional papers, they also told her that as soon as the papers are submitted it’ll just be a week of waiting for visa to be printed out. By last week of Jan my mom submitted the addt’l papers and when she asked the embassy again when she’ll receive her visa, they are now saying that they cannot say. And then after like a week my mom called them again and they said they still cannot say but just that the visa is already on processing. It’s been 3 weeks now and no news from them. What I’m really confused at is that is my mom already approved for a US visa by the time they called back to ask for additional papers or is the embassy still on the process of thinking about whether to issue the visa or not. It’s sad really having to go through all this. Thanks for any light you can shed on this.

  259. Ting how many days will you received your visa after the interview. Thank u.

  260. Hello Ting! I already got my Visa yesterday delivered thru Air21 on a freight collect for the amount of Php 215. I’ve submitted my marriage index from NSO Feb 11 and I got my Visa packet Feb. 19, 2009. Thanks God! I really didnt expect that fast. Thank you Ting so much and to everyone else reading this blog.

  261. Dear Ashley,

K visa for USC spouses is design to shorten the waiting period in the visa process. I am pretty sure that, the lady your are talking about is applying for a CR or IR visa type. The longest wait for K-3 is 12 mos. For IR-1 or CR-1 is about 18+ monts.

    Dear Jackie,
Congrats! You can have your visa on hand 5-7 days from its printing.

    Dear Renz,
I got it about 2 weeks from my approval (NOA2). You can also email NVC to check if you already have your Manila Case number. They will surely reply to you.

    Dear Alecsa,
    Yes. You are right.

    Dear Gayle,
When they asked for the additional documents, the case is not yet adjudicated. Basically, it will be as soon as they can assess the additional documents. They only said that you can have your visa in hand after a week, IF AND ONLY, your mom is approved.

    Dear Naids,
    Congrast! Welcome to the US!

  262. maam meron na akong manila case no. kelan kaya ako makakatanggap ng appointment letter?
salamat po ulit maam… maraming salamat sa reply.

    ren’z

  263. Dear Ren,

The cost of the 909 service is U.S. $0.98 per minute; this amount will be charged to your telephone bill.

  264. Oh My Gulay! the longest wait for K3 Visa is 12months??whoa! My husband will be submitting all the required docs today (US time, cgro mga 10am na dun..hehe) after getting married last Sept 22,2008 ngayon lang kami nagkaroon ng chance asikasuhin yung K3 Visa. He’s a US Citizen and a US Army…may advantage ba ang mga US Armed Forces when petitioning their spouse?
We are praying na sana things will go on smoothly and I can be there by the end of this year….kasi etong si Obama magpapadala nnman ng troops in afghanistan and possibly he will be deployed again early next year….haaayy….kahit sana ilang months lang I can spend my time with my hubby before he gets deployed again….
nagulantang lang ako sa 12 months e…naku, baka may mas tatagal pa dyan….Lord, wag nman po sana!(***praying**)

  270. Hello Ting,

Is it really true that when u undergo to sputum, you have to wait for 2months for the result? My category is CR1, before its K3 but we changed it since CR1 i think is better, atleast when I get there may Greencard na’ko. Im positive na wala namang prob sa sputum test ko, I just don’t want to wait that long, nakakalungkot na talaga. Um, just in case na magkaprob, pwede ba na makaalis pa rin me agad and then ung treatment is gawin na lang sa US? I hope to heare from you soon, I have no one to as for about this. Thank you so much!

  276. Well for me,I went first for the medical examination kasi d mo sure if you have health problems.sabi nga nun manung n Namit ko unahin muna 2weeks before the sched n gusto mo.para at least,If there is a problems maagaapan din.kasi yun iba pag may nakita any significant abnormal sa xray mo pinagspsputum sila.tapos malalaman mo pagpasado k pag pinabalik k tapos sabihin ning guard s st.lukes for vaccination ka.after ng medical pumasa ako dun na ko nagpasched.anyway, regarding sa proof.I have pictures n printed and love letters, western union receipt and phone bills.when I presented it last 20feb.at the preliminary interview, she got only like 10pics,the I-30,emails and the phone bills.ibinalik niya yun ibang documents like the western union receipt. Pagdating naman sa consul, she looked at our pics, emails and phone bills.she asked questions regarding dun sa presented documents

  277. Also kailangan punta ko website ng USA embassy. Click mo yun regarding sa k1 visa may PDF dun para maprint mo yun needed documents. I suggest if you printed the ds156, double check mo dapat may bar code, then ds157 when u have it go to banco de oro any branch. Pls pay first the 131 dollars fee for the visa. Yun namit ko nun 20 fen. Some of them had been delayed dahil kulang kulang ang files. Nila and forms kaya pabalik balik. Before you do your scheduling check mo if you have all the documents such as;
    Ds156
    Ds157
    Ds156k
    I-30 support from your fiance
    Birthcertificate
    Receipt of payment from bdo
    Cenomar
    Nbi clearance
Pics, love letters, bank account together, western union receipts emails as proof of engagement
    Then medical examination
complete this one first before scheduling para d k hassel

  278. hey jackie!!

VSC k din b? kc ur case is almost the same in my case pgkakaiba lng ntin is k3 aq but since parehas tau my I-129f…bale un nlang din kc ang hinihintay ko ung somebody to touch my I-129f then get approve..do u think it depends to the service center how they work for any kinds of petition?. i heard some rumors saying VSC is the quickiest than the other service center..ala me idea about that but hopefully tama nga cla..some of them they get approve fast like you but they’re also a k3…well congrats sau and wish us luck nalang din…sna ma-approve din kmi fast like everybody!!

So you won’t have go through to sputum examination. You should at least go for your examination 2weeks before your interview. Wag Mang tumulad sa akin buong magdamag gcing nung time by medical ko. Dumating ako dun 5feb. Around 4am. I ate only taho. I finished the examination before 10 am

  291. I can give you advice when it comes for the interview.be yourself, relax and pray. I had interviewed last 20feb.by window 27.I had a very beautiful American girl very pretty. I changed sits and she smiled and told me feel at home.and I did.she asked alot of questions and I also described the work of my fiance.you have to know the job of your fiance and how to described to the consul. I was praised because of that.cause I talked about modems, chips and computers.anyway,I stayed there for 15minutes. And before she approved me she checked my emails and she asked my phone number based on the phone bills.around 10:35am I was approved and she welcomed me by saying “welcome to America”! I said thank you and have a nice day and smile.very important eye to eye contact and a big smile.by the way before I had my interview I went to saint claire. And I had a prayer from saint jude.before I went inside the room for my interview I prayed the prayer of saint jude.my fears were gone and I feel delighted.I just though I’m going to the pageant and I have to answered the questions honestly. When you feel stress sing a your favorite song also I did that I sang love story song by taylor swift. Just be real and don’t show the consul your excited, super happy, know everything or desperate to be approve..just be humble and pretend that your for job interview or ur in a beauty paegeant. Be professional and lil confident not that much.cause some consul don’t like too much confident. I had a great time and fun there cause I met new friends that also been approved.and we got our visa after 3days.

  292. ashley,

    (2) Plane Ticket (round trip CDO-MNL) —Php.1,900.00/pax

    (3) Taxi Manila airport to hotel (Ermita vicinity)—Php.600.00
I used Cherry Blossoms Hotel in Ermita. It is very near to St. Luke’s. Just walking distance. Php.1,700.00 per day x 2 days.
Contact the hotel for their current fee at blossoms@i-manila.com or (+632)5247631, (+632)5247636.
    (4) Medical Fee US$213.35 or Php.10, 454.15 for adults and US$185.35 or Php.9,082.15 for 15 years and below. Payment is accepted ONLY in peso currency. You may want to add another Php.1,000.00 for allowance, like additional X-Ray (just in case).

    (5) Food allowance for two-three days. Robinsons is just very near to the hotel. Not even a block, so can eat at the fast food there like Jollibee or McDo or buy foods inside Robinson’s grocery. Anyway, the hotel has refrigerator inside the room. Let us say –budget was Php.500.00

    (8)Other allowance (like tips, souveneirs)–Php.1,000.00

  328. Dear Ayds,

Eto naman yung para sa embassy interview…

    (1) Taxi from home to airport –Php.250.00
    (2) Plane Ticket (round trip CDO-MNL) —Php.1,900.00/pax
As soon as you have your schedule, book with Cebu Pacific so you can avail of their promo. You can do this online with the use of credit card or go to the nearest Cebu PAcific booking office.
    (3) Taxi Manila airport to hotel (Ermita vicinity)—Php.600.00
For the hotel, you can use Bayview Park Hotel. It is infront of the embasy. So, cheapest room is US$65.00 per night or Php.3,200.

    Address: 1118 Roxas Boulevard cor.
    United Nation Avenue, Manila, Philippines
    Trunk Line Number: +63-2-2479000
    Fax Number: +63-2-5223040
    Toll Free Number: 1800-1888-5555
    Website: http://www.bayviewparkhotel.com

Well, if this is too high for you, you can try other hotel like
Mabini Mansion (this is where we stayed). It is also walking distance to the embassy. We paid only about Php.1,700.00 per night. Call them at (02) 521-4776 for the current rate.

    (4) Visa fee. Take note–pay it in advance, not on the interview date. K-3 or K-4 visa is US$131.00 or Php.6,419.00

    (5) Food allowance for two days. Php.500.00-Php.1,000.00 depends on where you want to dine.

    (6) Car hotel-airport—Php.600.00
I used the hotel’s car transfer service, so I do not need to call a taxi outside the hotel. Terminal Fee–Php.200.00

    (7) local airport to home—Php.250.00

(8)Other allowance (like tips, souveneirs, and Air21 payment)–Php.1,000.00

    Estimate———-Php. 18,500.00

I am quoting these prices based on ONE person only. Also, if you plan of staying in Manila from your medical exam to interview date, this estimate will obviously change. I suggest that YOU MAKE YOUR ITINERARY and compare the figures. This is what I did. To get the current prices, CALL the establishment involved.

    Hope this helps.

  329. Hi Ashely,

They usually starts with the I-130 filing, and not the I-129F. If everything is fine and your case is one of the lucky ones, you should have your I-129F NOA2 around March. Let’s hope and pray about that.

  330. Hello Marivic,
Yes, you can call USCIS to confirm the receipt of your RFE document. Make sure to talk to a live agent.1800-375-5283.

  331. Hi reg,
Good luck on your interview. I am sure, you will do good. Just make sure you have all documents required per appointment packet, okay.

    K-1 or Fiance visa…http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwfk1en.pdf

thanks for some info…the uscis got the I-130 nov.25 thats what i saw in my online case number then they touch it first time dec.16….second is jan.22..!! so it means when they got my petition nov.25 un ung time n ngstart n cla ng processing ng paperworks ko right???? pero til now ting they have’nt touch my I-129f yet since jan.6..hopefully my marinig kmi n bago or my mkita aq progress within this month ting kc if u count the month from the beginning we filed the petition its been 3 months already and once plang nila na-touch ung I-129f q….i pray for hard to get my petition approve soon…and thanks for giving me more idea and info and share ur experience with us…godbless!!

which is ang first reg kay mali.

tapos nag court order ako lumabas na yung tama na year. pagprint ng nso sa tama na year ito na naman problema ko. please help me to enlighten everything.

sana okey sa us embassy ang affidavit ting…. please help..

    thanks in advance

  336. hi ting
i forgot to tell u something…nung ng-file nga pla kmi ng I-130 last. nov.15 na-receieve nila un nov.17 then we got a case status online they said on nov.25 we received this petition….kaso nlaman nmin ang receipt# nun nung tumawag xa s service call center then bnigay s kanya ang receipt# para makapasok kmi s case status online kc d nya natanggap ang NOA1 n un s I-130 dhil ngkamali xa ng bigay ng address at dun pinadala ung NOA1 n un s wrong address, but i found out n na-touch n nila ang I-130 starting dec.16 then second is jan.22…he filed the I-129f last dec.30 with only the copy and print it out of the case status online receipt# from the I-130 kc nga d nya natanggap ang NOA1..on jan.9 pinadalahan n xa ng pangalawang NOA1 para s I-130 pero still the same p rin nman ang receipt# nya..so pano aq mg start mgbilang ng months? included p din b ung nov.17 n natanggap nila un then ng-start cla na-itouch dec.16? kc medyo naguguluhan aq e, if theres something wrong about the petition d nila ipapadala ang NOA1 ng I129f saka ang I130 dba? so how we will start counting the months ting? is that starting nov.25 and that is the time they received it and put our case to the status online or jan.9 that my husband got the NOA1? kc un din iniisip nmin baka kaya d p nila na-taouch ulit ang I-129f kc bka my conflict s I-130 pero he called the uscis they said ala nman daw

  337. hi ting,,,,,salamat kaayo sa imong reply…..thanks and take care always and God Bless….

  338. Dear reg,
Look for your hotel receipts with his and/or your name on it. Used plane tickets, chat logs, emails, phone bills, money transfer receipts, etc.
    Good luck!

    Dear Ashely,
3 months of waiting is very short. Kung 5 mos. wala pa rin, dun kana magtaka.Usual kasi, 4 months ang waiting period from NOA1 to NOA2. Take note — sa December maraming holidays, tapos sa Novemver 27-28, thanksgivng naman.

    Dear Lyra,
As long as your NSO BC is not tampered, oka lang yan. Yung sa akin nga eh, yung name ko handwritten in my BC, but since NSO paper na siya, sure na walang tamper. Good as original.

In your case, I suggest you bring your school records or baptismal certificate proving na ikaw ang nasa petition paper. Besides, your passport is a very strong proof of your identity.

Bring the original copy of your court order sa embassy to prove that you already corrceted your BC.

  339. ashley
hello ashley sorry now lang ako naka respond busy ako kasi nagpamedical…will its takes 7month…june 16 2008 kasi nagfile yong husband ko din january 2009 namin narecieve yong approval…

    shiela

  340. Hello Ms. Rimart,

If you can remember me I was the one who asked you about my mom’s visa. Thank god she already have a us h1b visa and hopefully will be leaving in 2 weeks for the us. Thought to leave a message since people might wonder what happened to my mom’s case. More power. ;-)

  341. hmm letters, cards and frendster messages lang eh coz di kami syado maemail…fone calls salitan kami coz we usuallt tok during his break eh di me nakaline ever since….pwede ba yung text kc yung fone ko pwede iprint yung messages yun madami talaga kami text….hay pls pray for me…

  342. Hi ting it is ok if I travel to other countries even I had my visa cause my fiance is freaking out that I will go to hongkonh next week.I told him I can travel to other countries as long as not going to America thank u

  343. hi ting,

thanks for the info. here. ask ko lang kung pwedi ba ako ulit magpakasal sa bf kung nasa US. Married na ako kaso di ako annul, pero tagal na kaming separated since 2003 pa at la kaming comm ng x ko. Makakuha kaya ako ng CENOMAR? pls reply. thank you talaga.

  344. hi ting! thanks for your reply.

confused lang ako kasi yung nso paper ko.

    1. double reg first reg 1987 tapos 2nd reg 1979

    ting please enlighten me…

  345. Dear Sheila,
Wow, nice to have your approval na.

    Dear Gayle,
Thanks for keeping us posted. take care!

    Dear Reg,
Yes, text messages is fine. Print the oldest and latest dated correspondence too.

    Dear Jackie,
Yes, it should be fine (HK). Is it as tourist? Please note that, K-1 visa is one-entry and only good for 6 mos. So, you need to travel to the USA before it will expire.

    Dear Emmie,
Definitely, not. You need an annulment BEFORE you can apply for a fiancee visa, or even get married to him. The CENOMAR will show that you have been married, and you have to present the final annulment decree if you want to marry ANOTHER man, either a foreigner or a Filipino.

    Dear Lyra,
Bring all the original copies of the documents that you are referring to during your interview, especially the court order. Based sa nababasa ko, usual na ang document verification kung may issue sa BC. This will only mean a delay, not a denial, basta ba okay ang ibang papers mo. Always remember, just be honest and tell stright the consul about your case. It is more appreciated than concealing something.

  346. ting mag interview pa ba ulit kasi tapos na ako na interview ang sabi sa letter na binigay sa akin na submit your leter sa window 17-20. after may interview pa balik?

thanks kaau ting… hopefully okey tanan noh..

    god bless always

  347. Dear Kyra,
No more interview. You just need to submit whatever is required ofr your to submit in order for them to evaluate your case. Did you get a white paper saying — wait until you hear from us?
    Good luck!

  348. ting mag interview pa ba ulit kasi tapos na ako na interview ang sabi sa letter na binigay sa akin na submit your documents ( kulang na mga documents ) sa window 17-20. after submitting may interview pa balik?

thanks kaau ting… hopefully okey tanan noh..

    god bless always

  349. endi pa ako nasubmit sa kulang na documents ting. dati after the interview binigyan ako ng paper na blue tapos nandun yung check list na dapat isubmit with the paper na white na may check yung submit your paper sa window 17-20 1:00-2:00pm.

bakit pala may white paper pala ibigay after submission sa kulang na documents?

and kung may ibigay na ” wait until you hear from us” ilang weeks yan siya bago mabigay ang visa?

    thanks ting muahhhh…. god bless

  350. Dear Lyra,

Meaning nyan, your case is under admin review. It will take a while for them to decide. Submit the needed documents as soon as possible. The delay could take from 4+ weeks. Ang iba nga, hanggan 3 months ang hintay.

  351. Calling Sheila,

I have read that, your case (K-3) can be denied since it does not qualify the legal requirement of getting a marriage license. In your case, the problem is — the 10 days waiting period. It is either you remarry or apply for K-1. To do this, you have to make your marriage null and void. It is better to hire an immigration lawyer this time, because your case has become complicated.

    —————————————–
hello tin thanks god you back akala ko nagsawa kana sa kakasagot sa mga Quistion namin…tin worry talaga ako kasi april 14 sya dumating din nagpakasal kami ng april 18 din bumalik sya sa US ng april 19,naku ano kaya dapat gawin ko ano pang mga evedince na dapat ipakita ko tin…please help me…shiela

  352. Dear All,

I have created a page named “QUESTION&ANSWER” (on top of this page) to make the surfing easier for you when you come back to see if I have an answer to your question. See you there!

  353. hi ting, thanks sa imo reply. wala man ko hatagi kadtong “wait until you hear from us” in short wala siya gi check ang gi check lang kay kadtong submit your documents at window 17-20 or mail pwede daw. kaya lang ting i want to be sure kasi kaya ako mismo ang pupunta to submit sa kulang ng documents.

kaya lang tanung ko after submission sa kulang na documents. magbayad na ba para sa delivery ng visa?
How much it will be cost?

    thanks kau ting… god bless

  354. Dear Lyra,
Not necessarily. Usahay moingon sila na magbayad ka didto sa embassy mismo, usahay sad collect. Andam na lang daan ug mga 250.00pesos.

  355. halu ting,

    thanks kau… hope okey tanan… god’s will.

  356. hi again ting.. thanks for answering my question about CFO.. im getting nervous already for my coming medical exam this march 18 and K3 interview march 27.. i have one more question.. because i read in vj that ITR must be notarized? my bana ITR 2006 2007 2008 not all notarized.. will this be a problem? thanks alot… be happy..

  357. Dear Lyra,
    You’re welcome.

    Dear en_en,

It is not a problem at all. Ours was the same-not notarized.

If your USC petitioner does an efile, it does not bear any signature at all. This copy is good as original. No need to notarized it. Besides, USCIS can always verify the data with IRS if they want to.

  358. hello ting.. thank u so much.. :)

  359. please help me …to working visa.

  360. You’re welcome, en.

    Dear Michelle,
Soory, but I do not know anthing about working visa.

  361. Hi Tingting,

Thanks for your website..i want to ask regarding the form I-134 it is very important ba sa interview kailangan ba na meron ako nito at nid na notorized din ito or pwd na rin na hindi.?

    Thanks.

  362. Dear Mitchey,
The new I-134 form DO NOT need notarization at all, but it has to be ORIGINALLY signed.

  363. hi teng,

ano poh gagawin ko,, well, military poh kc petitioner ko, he stationed now in korea, but his going back agan in states this may or june,,, ang ginawa nya kumuha cya ng attorny to process our paper works,, then first week of march receive napoh nya case number namin, then pinaalam na din nmin sa attorny namin,,, were waiting now to be approve right??? my question is? how long it takes bah para ma approve application nmin??? anu poh pinaamadali at pinakamatagal na approval nila???

    anne

  364. Dear anne,

    What type of visa?

  365. miss ting hope mabasa mo ito.. i just want to ask kc i was required to submit additional documents actually yung documents na yun is intended for my boyfriend kc he have 2 kids but he was never married to the kid’s mom… (my bf is us citizen by birth but grew up here) so the CO ask for the Cenomar of my bf???? ang question ko is how long will it take for them to have a final decision to think na yung lacking document is on the part of my bf (who happens to be a us citizen) kc sobrang nagwowory me and im very sad coz i really want to be with him na…actually he is very confident na he is not married to any1 here in the Philippines…. pls tell me wat shud i do?????

  366. Hi Ting,

My wife in the Philippines had her over all medical examination with her private doctor, until she had her sonogram (ultrasound), they found out that she has “ovarian dermoid cyst”. I’d like to ask, is sonogram included in their medical exam at St Luke’s? As far as I’m concern, I told my wife to do the operation here in my place (Seattle, WA)so she can use my insurance. Is this possible? Pls advice. Thank you.

  367. just finished my medical…no sonogram sir, but on the physical exam the lady doctor will touch (press) basic parts, like parts on ovary, breast and maybe liver parts.

I used to have myoma that was operated already and I myself recognized it before when I once pressed my uterus part because its kinda hard…dont know about cyst though.

  368. Hello Ting,

I just finished my medical exam last week and I have no idea if I did pass it or not. I was told to come back once I have my passport ( I don’t have it yet then) for the 2 vaccinations required of me. Are clients usually told if there was a problem right away or we have to wait during the interview to be told? HOw do we know if there’s a problem on our medical tests? I’m also from CDO and will have my interview on the 25th.

    Salamat!

  369. Dear Mark,

Sonogram is not part of it, but it is advisable to tell the doctor your wife’s problem during the exam. A cyst is not a ground for denial, since it is NOT contagious. Actually, you are right. It is a plus if you will tell them that you are planning to have your wife’s surgery in the USA. It makes sense. It is far better here than in the Philieppines.

  370. Dear vk,

Any non-communicable disease is NOT a ground for denial.

    Dear Lie,
If you had your immuization on the 2nd day, then you passed. You will know if you have a problem if they will require additional tests on you. SLEc asked for the passport, because they are the one who will forward it to the embassy.

After you have your visa, do not forget to attend the CFO seminar for your CFo sticker. You can not leave the country without this.

  371. Hello..Just wanna ask about medical exam..about the WRIST..signs of suicidal attempt, would it really be a PROBLEM on the medical exam result/visa denial? I had attempt before but I did it years ago, I’m a CHANGED person now..I’m worrying that would cause problem with the petition. Thanks!

  372. Dear missy18,

It is not a ground for an upfront denial. SLEC will refer you to undergo a psych exam to make sure that you are completely “healed” and are not a public threat.

  373. Whew! Thanks a lot Ting. I am quite relieved now. Will fly to Manila again tomorrow for the vaccination and interview on the following day, pls Pray for me..

Human na diay ko sa CFO Seminar in Cebu, but will be back there for the visa stamping or can I have it in Manila instead? I have both certificates already, from ST. Marys and DFA Cebu.

  374. i been waiting for my visa for almost 7 working days after the interview,,until now i don’t have it.. do you think i am having a problem with my papers?although the consul told me that my visa has been approved i still think about it.. because my friends had their interview the same day as mine..and they got their visa already,..i have read about the waiting time of the visa shipping and i already reach the maximum time of waiting days..please do reply.. i badly need it…

  375. Hi Ting,
I prefer to post my question here para sa may case n same sa question ko..The notice i received from US Embassy, they use my name as single, even in the confirmation email i got after setting my interview date.My question is what to use to fill up forms in St.Lukes and when paying my visa at BDO since my passport im using is in married name?…..im a bit confused………thanks in advance…

  376. dear ting:

ur site is indeed helpful to us in the agony of waiting/working on our applications.

im under IR1 visa. im done with my medical exam in 2days, gave me the vaccination record. i wonder, would that mean i am also cleared of from PTB, HIV, Hepa etc?

im a nurse, and i haven’t had medical exams for some time.
scares me. if im done with the medical in 2days, would that mean i pass the medical?

    thank you soo much.

  377. Dear Lei,

Yes. It is OK to have your sticker/stamp at CFO Manila even if you have taken your seminar in Cebu. Just do not forget to bring the CFO certificate and seminar attendance cert they gave you.

    Dea Alonica,
If the CO said that you are approved, then you are. That what happended to me to. I was approved but my visa was not printed the next business day. If you are too worry about it. You can call the embassy hotline.

    Dear Dianne,
Use the same name that is printed in your passport, so there is uniformity in your forms. I got my appointment letter from the embassy (and USCIS0 in my madiden name. But I used my married name in all my forms — SLEC, CFO and DS forms.

    Dear Puma,
Congrats! YOu passed. Getting your vaccinication is the indication, because if you will have a problem, they will ask you to go for further testing.

  378. hi ting
ask ko lng kung may idea k about changing the last name after getting married here in california. confuse lng ako kc sbi ung middle name ko ay same p rin sa mother ko p rin gagamitin. ung last name n gamit ko ung sa father ko d ko n gagamitin.. wla kaya mging problem un sa documents ko sa philippines..
    please help me tng…

  379. hi ting,

thanks for your reply..i do got my visa now.. my flight is on march 27..the day after tommorrow.. tomorrow i will attend the pre departure orientation in manila.. can i have my flight the next day after the pdos?

  380. ask me lang what if accidentally nabuksan ung plastic ng visa packet? naatat kc ung mother ko bale ung plastic lang ang natanggal sa dikit. worried ako ting baka magka-problema ako at san kaya ako makahingi ng tulong n nagkaganun ung visa plastic packet ko? bale alis ako by may pa. please help me ting im so worried. thanks. maricel

  381. hi ting, what if ung visa packet ko ung plastic lang nya ang nasira it is considered invalid? im worried. it was accidentally open, the visa is not open, only the plastic where visa is located. thanks miss worried

  382. Dear Anne,
You just have to call the issuing office to change you name. Like state ID or license, you go to DMV. If your SSN is under your maiden name, go to the nearest SSA Office.

Wala naman kayung maging problem , as long as you are keeping a copy of your MC handy.

    Dear Alonica,
Of course, you can. It will only take a day for the seminar and CFO stamping. I suggest you get an evening flight. At least meron ka the whole day kung hindi mo man makaya ang 1 day lang. That’s what I did.

    Dear marical,
What do you mean plastic? Yung packaging? Okay lang yun. Ang important na hindi mabuksan is the BROWN ENVELOPE na may nakalagay do not open.

Kung na-open mo yung BROWN ENVELOPE, you need to go back to the embassy to reseal it.

  383. thanks thing for the idea you thought us..i been in citigold this morning, too bad i re-sched my flight, I’m not having my flight tomorrow because we thought it is okay to go there even if i don’t have a schedule for an orientation.. though they know that tomorrow is my flight they still told me that my orientation sched is on april2..there’s no slot anymore for this week…whew! its so hard to be in u.s,there so many things to do.. anyways thanks for the info..keep it up thing..thanks a lot…godbless..

  385. the philippines is the most beautiful place in the world. its too bad that the people in my islands are so corrupt and criminal minded. now that its infected they all want to move out and infect some more.

  386. Dear Mike,

Visitors like you are not welcome to my blog. Your comments are uncalled for. I had to edit (errr delete) it for the sake of my sanity.

You are a walking oxymoron. According to you, the Philippines is a nice country and that Filipinos should not come to America. I agree. But the big question is – why are you here? Are you jealous that some of these girls are enjoying the same life you have here in the US? Crab-mentality eh? Bitter life?

Did you mention to **** your ****? Dang, Ayaw ng mga girls ng malilit na ****. LOL!

By the way, eto pa la yung info mo oh…bakit ka nagtatago? sobrang misteryoso naman yan…har har har! Ang feeling mo, parang kang kung sino! Bakit ikaw lang ba mag karapatan mag -tate? LOL!strong>mikethefish

  390. ladies no offense! It’s pronounce >> PIYUK! Not Puke! Peace!

  391. Hello Ting, this is Bing…na stop akong pag ask sa u kc I was busy for my medical and interview last Feb…I had my interview last March 3 and thanks God i made it, and received my visa 5 days after…so, im good to go now…but May 9 pa flight ko kc i want to spend more time with my family and friends and give enough time for myself since i have a work here for almost 14 yrs now and for just a wink of an eye, il leave all and will move on for a next ladder of my life…dami kong sinabi hehe…anyway, just wanna ask only Ting if what are d advantages of applying SNN before marriage, kc I read another post na she applied SNN after marriage, i know that my turn will come soon…ano ba ang kaibahan…pls enlighten me and tenk you sa reply…and another question, ano ba ung form na ibigay sa u sa POE na kelangan i filled up ng benificiary and meron bang question don na medyo confusing, medyo kinakabahan din kc ako since il be flying of myself only, walang kakilala sa plane at POE lalo na immigration yan…thanks.

  392. me again, ting.

finally im done with my interview yday. ur published experience(which i printed and reviewed every now and then) really helped a lot, made me like a pro! hehe. on my interview day yday, i was looking for the x-ray thing, the Q-number, the flashing of Q-numbers, the blue seats, the pink receipt and ‘delbros’(which didn’t happen coz it’s air21 already) etc… the inputs u gave was so helpful, made me less stress that day.

btw, i think the CO does not issue the pink slip anymore but instead, the CO instructed me/us to wait for our names to be called then proceed to counter37, there the pink slip or other final instructions were given by a pinoy gentleman.

i have another concern, i was approved as mentioned by the CO and the counter37 man who gave the pink slip… u think that really is it? just wait for the visa to arrive? coz in the pink slip there u could read a disclaimers note…the ‘reminders’ saying not to book flights yet, not to quit job or sell properties, etc etc…. that scares me to death. what does that mean to u? thanks h. u r such a good help. pls pacify me.

    thank you. Godspeed!

    tahnks and Godbless

  395. hi ting, this is my first time to read your blog, ask lang ako kung may idea ka about my concerns…here are my concerns:
1)pag may pending petition ba ako ng aking employer from new york tapos ang asawa ko mag a apply for non immig working visa in guam pwede ba xa ma deny for a visa?

2)pag may kapatid ba ang asawa ko sa guam tapos doon din siya mag a apply for working visa maniniwala kaya ang consul na hindi sya mag over stay after his contract

3)pwede kaya na maging guarantee ng husband ko ang pending petition ko for new york na di xa mag over stay sa guam after his contract para maniwala ang consul at i grant siya ng working visa

please i need your reply very soon…thanks

  396. Dear Bing,
If you will applry your SSN after your marriage, SSA will turn you down. They will give your SSN ONLY after you have youe AOS or EAD. Whereas, if you will apply for SSS, preferably, 2 weeks after your arrival, you DO NOT have to show your EAD or AOS.

At the POE, it should be easy. You must be referring to the I-94 or departure record. This is a very imporatnt document. Make sure that they will attached a portion of that document to your passport. You will be needing this is your next immigration steps here.

    Dear Puma,
Approved is approved. You will have your visa soon.

    Dear Palmy,
2012 is still a long way to go. What name did you use in your K-3 petition forms? If it is still the maiden name, then there is no need to change your passport, BUT IT IS ADVISABLE TO AMEND IT to your married name. YOu need to go to the NSO to do this. They require the CFO seminar if you do this.

  397. hi ting

need ko pa ba ng cenomar eh first time ako kinasal? my interview will be on april 23 under cr1 category..

    thank u and more power

  398. hi ting

follow up questions..ano ba ung marriage index from nso na nabasa ko sa one of the applicants na nainterview sa us embassy and they were asking this documents from her? How can we get this? Should i go for census and ask for a copy of marriage Index even i never been married before…thank u…

  399. Hi Ms. Ting,

    Good Day!

Please help me coz I am a bit confused with regards the following:

    1. DoI need to have a DS 230 or not on my K3 interview?

    2. Isn’t ok if I am the one will set my interview at the embassy even thou I dont have the packet 3&4 yet?

    3. Some they said theres a Packet 3 others says theres no Packet 3? which one is correct?

    4. What they mean delbros verification fee? What is that for?

    5. Can I set my own interview even I dont have the packet yet coming from U.S. Manila Embassy?

P.S. I done my medical early before we are approved and got case number, what should I do next?….

Hoping for your soon response….Help would greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in an advance!
    Glory

  400. hi glory, just a little info, ung DS-230 is for immigrant application, since k3 ka di mo kailangan un unless mag diretso ka sa CR1…

  401. Gud Day ,

Ask ko lang po kc yong fiancee ko inaayos niya ang papel ko and he told me na meron na daw akong green card residence # ngyun kung meron na ako noon yun po bang interview sa US embasy it just formality na lang ?
pero ala pa po akong natatangap na khit na anong letter from the embassy pls help me naguguluhan po ako

    God bless

  402. Dear Kathy,

If you are married and you request for a CENOMAR, NSO with AUTOMATICALLY give you the MARRIAGE INDEX or CRS Forn 5 Advisory on Marriage. Meaning, no CENOMAR for you, but ONLY marriage index.

You can acquire this on the same day that you will request it with NSO Office. If you do it online, it will take time. This document will show the name/s of your husband and ex-husband.

  403. Dear Glory,

K-3 visa applicant needs to fill up DS-156 and DS-157. No more DS-230. It should be originally signed and dated.

In order to schedule for K-3 interview, you need to wait for the notification from the embassy or from NVC that you case is now ready for schedule. You need the MNL case number in order to call embassy tollfree.

As for the Delbros verification fee, it is already DISCONTINUED. So do not worry of it at all. Just be prepared with the documents needed. Here is the link K-3 Visa Documents For Embassy Interview.

After your medical exam, where is your passport now? Did SLEC keep it?

  404. MS. TING!

i was interviewed for immigrant visa (petitioned by my mother) last feb. 18, 2009, kinuha ang passport ko at binigyan ako ng blue paper, ano kaya ibig sabihin nun?

i have my inteview schedule on may 21 and on the appointment letter they are asking me to bring the original copy of my husbands affidavit of support and 1040 form federal income tax return but my problem now is that what i have is 2007 federal income tax of my husband, he dont have yet his 2008 since he is in iraq he is a member of us army by the way and dont have the chance to file for his 2008 federal income tax or 1040 form.

do you think okey lang na ang dalhin ko nalang on my interview is my husbands 2007 federal income tax? or is it okey to bring also the last 6 months LES (leave and earning statement) of my husband?

O much better ba magpakasal kami sa HONGKONG? God bless always. Thank u in advance

  416. mira

  417. Mira,

My interview is on May 20 just a day before you. My fiancee is also in the US Army and was stationed in Afghanistan for 15 months last 2007-2008. Though the type of Visa we’re applying for is different, some documents to be submitted are mostly common for all applicants. I read your problem about the IRS and my fiance said that he(your husband) could go to http://www.mypay.com and print out his earning statement for 2008 and email it to you since he haven’t filed the 2008 earnings.

    Good luck on your interview!

    God bless!

  418. Ting-ting,

Thank you for this blog. Although this has been posted for a long time, its really helpful.

    God bless!

  419. hi Nikki,

thanks for the helpful information, yes i am going to bring his LES for 2008 instead of IRS….just want to know where is your fiancee stationed right now? I’ll be in Manila by May 20. ARe you done with your medical examination?

    God Bless and Goodluck too.

  420. Mira,

My fiance is on Captain’s Career Course in Fort Huachuca in Arizona for the moment though he has always been living in North Carolina Fort Bragg. Where are you from by the way? Yes, I just finished my Medical Exam yesterday. You can visit my site to see my experience. When are you coming?

    God Bless!

  421. Hi Ting,

I got here in the U.S. April 06 on CR1 visa. Just wanna ask when will I get my green card? . My SSN was mailed to me more than week after I get in here. Thanks in advance!
